    New to brushless

    Am building a Dumas Deepvee40--32"long.
As advised will be surface drive and flex cable--already in hand.

On advice of a experience member og this site have ordered the following motor,
which is somewhere between China and here.

    http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=11182

Am waiting for delivery of 12A ESC. Was going to use nimh batts but have been advised this is problematic.

Question is--what lipo for this motor?? Please reference this site- for comparison-

Have recieved the following recomendations on another thread, but am wondering which lipo battery is preferable-

    5000mah
    3 sip 11.1.v
    3 cell

    or

    5000mah
    2 sip
    7.4 v
    4 cell

Am led to believe I need 2 of the batteries hooked up in series. Is there a harniess for this??
Is there a way to use just one battery??

Also-what would be a decent charger-

Am on a budget until I see what's up.

    Thanks, Bill

That is a pretty small motor for a boat of that size and weight. It will need a minimum of 5S voltage (18.5 volts) to reach any reasonable speed, and 6S is better. You can use two 3S packs in parallel, that will probably be the easiest to place in the boat. I hope that is a typo, a 12 amp speed control will never work. A minimum of 120 amps is recommended, one which will work on at least 6S voltage.

The correct brushless setup will be far more satisfying than a brushed setup. I agree that lipos are a better solution than nickel cells, but cheap cells are cheap cells regardless of their chemistry. I have little experience with cheap cells of any kind.

      Fluid-yeah typo-esc is 120amp.

Do I really want parrelell?? Guess I am confused.

How do I hook up 2 batt packs in parallel?

Not looking for big speed--enough to get on plane plus a bit is fine for me.

Geeze, typos must be contagious! You want the 3S packs in series. Sorry.

          OK--

From the web site I refernced (Hobbypartz.com) what would you reccommend??

Also how do I hook up in series???

If I can get this thing going I will probably upgrade to Leopard motor as you previously recommended.

            Fluid, Fast Vee or anyone--

please explain to me what I need to do to connect brushless motor, esc and battery to eachother.

I assume the esc has 3 female bullet connectors to accept the 3 male connectors on the motor.

The battery to esc connections baffle me--assume I have 2 lipos that need to be hooked up in series then to the esc--how do I do this?? Are there special "pigtails I need to attach to the battery plug?

            Then what?

Please help a confused old man. Thanks
