    NIMH question

I bought a couple of NiMH batteries to use in my old small boats to replace OLD NiCds.

I bought a new charger that can do Nicd, Lipo and NiMH. I charged the new NiMH's, which were dead, and it seemed to take less than 5 minutes. Is this normal? They are EP3800 6 cells.

    thanks

How many amps did you charge them at? Where they hot when they were charged?

No unless they were already recently charged

No idea. Charger did not come with directions, which I am working on. Slightly warm but not hot.

When I hooked the batteries as received to the boat it turned the prop but then quickly ran out of juice. After charging prop revved way up.

Well, I finally got the instructions emailed to me and this charger works differently than my 10 year old one. The old one you just hooked up and chose from 4 different modes. The new one I need to put in the attributes of the battery (NiMH, 3800 mAh, cells). I chrged it at recommended 3.8a.

So I did it and the batteries took about 15 minutes to charge from where it had charged them a couple days ago.

Anyone have any comments about Integy chargers and batteries? 16X910 replacing my old 16X. They gave me a deal because the 16X was not compatible with NiMH.

          thanks

2nd question. This unit did not come with the wire from the charger to the battery so I made them up. My question is do you guys use the connectors on the charging wires or use alligator clips to attach to the battery?

            thanks

I use a series of adapters, usually have 4mm female bullets on them, and you need male 4mm bullets. then what I would do is choose a general connector (which I did not do), usually the one you have the most of and will also be the one you use on most things. then build adapters for every other connector you need. alligator clips are not really the safest especially on high current/ voltage batteries, especially lipos because of the looming short circuit
