    Hot batterys

My batterys are getting to hot but my motor/esc are maintaing good temps, 110/115
the batterys are in the 145/150 range.
the batterys will puff a bit but go back to normal when cooled down.
they still take a charge, 4.17per cell.
    are they going bad?
I just discharged these and going to charge back at slow rate and see what happens.
the batterys are zippys 5000mah 40-50.

Maybe you are over discharging them by running them too long. The temps really build up as the capacity gets depleted under load.
Are you running them down to the LVC in the ESC & what value is it set at?
Do you know the amp draw of your setup?
How much in Mah do the packs take on when you charge them up after a run?
What is the resting voltage immediately after a run?
Answers to these questions would help.
      Paul.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

When recharging them they are takeing about 3000 mahs, somtimes less.
I don,t believe I am running then down to far because the voltage is about 7.65 volts left in them.
        don't know my amp draw.
what do mean about resting voltage?

By not telling us anything useful about your setup you make it very difficult to diagnose your problem. The obvious answer is you are over-amping those packs. Regardless of what the maker's so-called "C" rating is for your cells, you are pulling too many amps for them to handle safely. The fact that your motor and ESC are not excessively hot tells me that your packs are not too good, either in original quality, or in their present condition. Reduce the amp draw by using a milder motor or smaller prop, and budget for better cells in the future.

            G-Unit -

You must be over discharging. What are you running, motor, esc, prop.....? C rating of batts? Low C rating and high output esc/motor and you will have fireworks early

And if you are running high demand hardware, pleas tell me you are not using deans plugs. 5mm and up bullets

Stock UL1 motor and esc, batterys flight max / zippy 5000mah 40c-50c burst.
I guess the batterys are just taking their toll, they are well over a year old.
m445 prop and others and the battery still got hot.
I guess it's time for some new batterys.

I run the same setup in my LSH without problems except I use hyperion batteries. You may have your strut set too low to run that prop! Raise the strut! What kind of hull are you running?

haven't had this issue till just recently.
and yes 5.5 bullets on everything

Raise the strut until the centerline of the shaft is about 1/8" above the bottom of the sponsons. It sounds like you just overworked those batteries. While they're cheap, I've found they don't have very long lifespans. If you have been running the prop too deep that will do it too. When I get packs like that, I use 'em in my airplanes. Airplanes don't pull anywhere near the same amps as boats do.

                      Ok I'll see what happens.
When setting my strut I put the boat on a setup board and measure the bottom of the strut to the bottom of the hull as instructed in the ul1 forum, which is just about what your saying.

Also after discharging the batterys on the charger and recharging them at a slow rate 3.5 amps the batterys only took 4.13 volts per cell for a total of 8.26 volts.
the use to take about 4.18-4.19 volts per cell for a total of 8.36-8.38 volts.
I'll a higher strut setting but I believe the batts are going south on me.

Probably is the batteries. That's why I quit using them. Short lifespan. Spend two to three times more and get 5 times more lifespan....at least. Hyperions rock! Absolutely the best batteries on the planet right now. I offer a big discount on them to OSE members. PM me for details.
