The first one is 5.7" long. The second is 5.8". They will be a tight squeeze. You better measure the battery area up front in your UL-1 before ordering!. I ran into that way back when the UL-1 first came out using slightly smaller packs. Also the width can be a factor. The second pack is actually 1mm narrower than the first. If in doubt, make up some styrofoam blocks the same size as the packs and ALLOW FOR THE WIRES, ETC on the one end! You may be better off to go down to 4200, etc. packs. The run time won't be effected that much.

I am using both and they fit ok...
If you race with other guys that 1 extra lap or few more seconds of your LiPo's can make a difference so go for 5000mAh...

In full 1 mile races, I rarely put more than 3800mah back into a pack in the UL-1 if that tells you anything. I'm talking about legitimate heat racing though, not pond bashing.

Sailr, If you have more than 1 boat you can use the same set on other boats like MG that are not size of the battery limited, if that tells you anything. Racing or not, the one problem people have getting in to boats and Lipos is how short they last so race or not, legitimate heat racing or not it's just cool to have more fuel in the tank. That is called taking care of your lipos becouse even if you run them half way you are farther from LVC and have no worries getting your lipos voltage to not healthy level which is easy possible with 3800mAh. Think of using larger prop on UL-1, that will need more juice, etc...

Go for 5000mAh or larger, I am using 5800 2 s on ul-1 with no issues.
Price not bad and they will fit, even if you pond bashing it just making sense.
Maybe you can use it on other boats that will be more power demending or would like to play arround for a little longer.

Not sure where you found 5800's that small but good for you if you did! The form factor of the lipos are coming down a bit that's for sure.
