How do you test nimh cell

Hi, never made stick packs before.
How do you test for a good cell ?

Put a load on it and check voltage. Or load the pack and check each cell. I used a light bar that put about 20 amp load...which is 10 tail lights in para from a car. It was my discharge unit I made and then I used a cutoff box on it. Still have it if you want to buy it :)
