    anyone ever try lifepo4 batteries in their boat?

      They won't work in FE boats! LiFEPO4 batteries (A123) will NOT deliver fast surges of power. They will instantly dip down below voltage cutoff and then recover but then your esc has sensed the battery is drained.

      We ran into this in airplanes when the A123's first came out. I confirmed with my friend who is the head engineer at the number one manufacter of Lithium Iron batteries in China.

      They are also big and heavy and it would take a huge pack to get any mAh's out of it.

      We use them for onboard receiver packs with a cheap BEC for a voltage regulator. They are great for that.

      You're asking because they are used in r/c cars. Cars are geared and don't pull big amp spikes like boats do.

      Bottom line, don't waste your time and money. They are also much more expensive than lipos!
