    C rating

    simple question ,
will a boat be much faster with a 40c 2s in series compared to a 25c 2s in series ?

buy how much 10 or 20% or more or less ??

also is amp draw and heat much greater with 40c over 25 c ??

25c batts will heat up faster than 40c batts the C stands for the rate it can safely discharge at so a 30c battery that is 5000mah can deliver 150 amps continuous. im still pretty new to fe myself. it all depends on what amps ur motor is pulling out of the batts pls add all details such as motor and esc specs and im sure some cluey bloke will help u out with the math

For that motor I would get batts that have a minimum continuous output of 150a. So, 5000 30c or 4000 40c etc................of course more is always better.......5000 40c's would be the best. Higher C rating keeps the batts cooler and allows for peak motor performance.

if the batteries you using now can deliver the power needed then there wont be a difference in speed on your boat.

a higher C rated battery deliver the power needed longer during your run sinse it can deliver more amp`s as your voltage falls during your run.
a higher C rated battery wil also last longer then your lower C rated battery (with your current setup) sinse they do not have to work as hard as your lower C rated batteries.

you should also keep in mind that if your batteries cant deliver as much amp`s as the motor requires you can damage your ESC in the long run, so there are more things to connsider then just speed with getting a 40C battery over a 25C battery.

In one of my micro boats i use a 3s 2200mah, I have a 25c-35c & a Turnigy Nano Tech 45c-90c. The difference in speeds top end & especialy excereration on the 45c is really noticable, Both packs were new as well. But as been mentioned you do have to have an esc that will not be damaged by this higher c rating. Thanks Martin.

The motor has more "punch" to it...............and as pointed out will last a bit longer.

What mah and C rating are your batteries?

                  hello

i'm sure that is not due to C, but to NANO technology
Nano will keep voltage higher than a "standard" Lipo
this is why you get higher speed

there are 40C "normal" batteries that works just as good as a nano 40C battery.
the difference between a 25c and a 40C battery is how much amp they can deliver.
if you push a 25c battery til you hit the burst rating you wil get good speeds for as long as the battery can deliver that burst. if you use a 40c battery on the same setup you wli get that same good speed til your voltage dropps and your motor have less rpm (kv X volts).

running a 25c nano battery wil NOT give you better speeds then a 40C "normal" battery on the same setup and if your nano is not able to deliver the amp`s needed for the motor the "normal" 40C wil work way better.

Dont know the whys & where fores between the 2 that i use, One thing i know for shore the difference in speed & exceleration is noticably that clear between the 2. I have to be real carefull on take off on the Nanos because of the torque roll putting the boat right over ( its a self righter so no problem ). With the other lipo its not so aggresive. Thanks Martin.

Thats because your Nano's are 45c compared to 25c for the other...........nothing really to do with "nano" in that case.
