    LiFe for receiver.....

I'm sure this has been brought up before, but, has anyone used a LiFe for a receiver batt.? I am trying to decide if a Hyperion 1700mah LiFe Batt. (6.6v) will be safe to use with my Futaba gear (R603FS Receiver)...

    Thanks for any advice...

Yes this will work fine, I use them in all my boats. (I do go with the smaller 850 pack to save weight.) Remember that some Futaba setup run off dry cells, and fresh ones will put out over 6V with them. LiFE at 6.6V is fine, now LiPO's would require the use of a voltage regulator.

That's a great idea to use LiFe but how about use in a transmitter that uses 4 AA batts?

Thanks Paul (Welcome to OSE!!) and jedi! I'm just hoping that I won't toast my receiver with the LiFe pack...only needed for my mono. Would be neat to have something other than NiCad or NiMh to use...

Any other opinions are very welcomed and appreciated!

They work great. I have them in my gass boats and any FE that requires an rx pack.

Thanks Brian and Andy! What mah pack should I be looking to buy? 850, 1700?...I will be running my mono in about 3 heats on a race day so, something that would last three or four runs without needing a charge. I'm using a Futaba 2.4 system and a 90 oz/in (@ 6V) servo in a 20 size mono.....

850 will be fine... 1700 would be an overkill....

                Later,

I really like the Hyperion 850 packs, they do make bigger ones also. But as others have said 850 is plenty. $17 for a Rx pack, good quality ones no less.
