    Bad LiPo?

On one of my LiPos I use in the boat there is one cell that won't go above 3.74 volts. Guess that battery is shot??

      Nope.

I had a 2s Turnigy 5000mah battery with one cell that wouldn't go over 3.84v. I thought it was done for, but I left it on the charger for about 15 hours and viola, it works like new. Charges and balances fine. There's still hope!

          Trash it!

Your asking for trouble if you continue to use it.

oh boy, 15 hours sitting next to the charger is like doing "hard-time".

Well, I didn't do it all in one day. Haha over the span of about a week I would just put it on balance charge for a couple of hours a day. It seems to work fine now and I've used it a couple of times. It balances and charges perfectly. I don't see why you'd trash a battery without even trying to fix it.

I'll try to balance charge it a few more times and see what happens.

Alright, cool. So just plug everything in and set the charge rate to like 2 amps. The charger should automatically select a lower, safer amp rate when necessary. Let me know how it goes! You've got a 50/50 chance of it coming back to life :)

I have put it through six balance charges in 120 minute increments over the the course of a few days and I got that one cell to 3.99 volts. The others charge to 4.20 so I am close. Been charging at 3.0 amps.

A couple more cycles should get it close to 4.20 volts.

That's great to hear! Once you get it to 4.20 it should work fine and stay close to the other cell.

I had the opposite problem. I got 3 lipos form a member on here and he sent a 4th saying it was bad but he would send it anyway. These were all Turnigy 2S 5000mah 40-50C. The one that was bad had a cell that was at 1.86V. I read somewhere on here you could charge it at a very low amp rate on Nimh to bring it up. So I did, it came up, I switched it over to lipo charge and left it at a low rate. I think 1.5A. It took the charge and ran well. The next time charging, it was at 3.0V while the other cell was 3.9. The charger didnt like it and said "Voltage error". Again, I trickled it in Nimh fior about 10 minutes until the V came up and it charged fine after that. Since then its got about 5 runs on it and it charges and balances perfectly. Will it last? Who knows. even thoguh they are only $30. or so batts, For me its worth a shot to revive one. If you worried about fires.. charge it in your grill. Its what I did.. theyre made for flames

I'm about an hour into another balance charge and I now have 4.00 volts on the low cell.
