just how important is it for the cells to be accurately balanced ?

just got 2 new turnigy 4s 40c 5000 batteries. but 1 of the batteries have 2 cells at 4.22V and 2 cells at 4.01V after 6 hours on the charger
do it realy make much of a difference ?

charger is a hyperion EOS 0606i

That much difference could be an issue?
but at the same time I would not be afraid to run them, but I would only let the cells goto 3.8v and then charge them again and see who they balance
you could also do a balance on the pack and see if it brings the cells together

the 2 cells that is low is up to 4.02 now after close to 7 hours on the charger\balancer. so i guess there is hope.
think il let it charge til bedtime and try to run them in the morning and se how it works.

I would take it off the charge setting and just do a balance on the pack
the issue is the charger not the battery

not shure the 0606 have that option to only balance. at the moment it is just trying to get the voltage up to 4.22V on all 4 cells it seems.

on the hyperion if you scroll to the balance menu, and start a charge like you would from the main menu, it goes into a balance charge mode.

ones i started a charge and have the balancer connected it wil balance the battery. i managed to get it to "accepted" levels for the charger (4.17 4.18 4.22 and 4.22)
been out for a run now and is recharging so hopfully that was all it needed. ones i hooked the battery up to the charger all the cells was within 0.01V of eachother (3.87-.388 V)

If it took 7 hrs to charge, I'd say it is a problem with the charger as well,

took about 7 hours to charge\balance THAT battery. the other identical took about 30 minutes to do the same job.

given the batteries a few runs now and it take shorter time to balance that battery but still it take 3-4 times as long as the other one

I have Hyperions for my 3D planes and I will take my cheap Turnigy packs any day over the Hyperions
I get more power (better vertical performance) from my Turnigies
