    Whiplash 20+Medusa+Turnigy+S225=62.5mph

Finally hit 60 plus. This boat is surprisingly stable at this speed. I took a Prather S225 cut it down to 42mm D/T S/B and reduced some lift. It works great on this boat, but the ESC went into thermal mode. I thought the battery was dead, but I only ran it for2 minutes. Let it rest for 30 seconds and it would take off again at full speed. It did this a couple more times so I brought it in. I would say the motor and ESC were 140*F. Anyways, it is good to know that the Turnigy speed control wont just melt down if you put a little too much prop on it. For sport I think I will drop down to a S220 or S215.

Good to hear that you are having a ball with the Turnigy esc !!
They do "thermal"and slow/shut down, and as you have seen they will come back to life soon after.

A couple of tips for you. If you get this thermal shutdown each run then the esc is too small for the application, repetitive thermal shutdowns will damage and weaken the speedy and it will die eventually. I have done this with a swang-hobby esc. Many of these lower cost esc's I believe are the same but have a different label.
I am sure as I have or have had most of them.

They sure take a lot of abuse and I will testify to that. they can get splashed and dried a few times but do not get them really wet or submerged while powered.
This is a fast way to nuke one. I have done a few.

All of that said, I will still continue to use the Turnigy / Mystery / Himodel / Swang / Seaking esc's as they are the best value for money out there for me.

    Long story short.
Prop down or ESC up.......your call
    See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

Def invest in a temp gun if you don't already have one. If you are running that motor Hot using 6s which I bet you are then it won't last very long.

I have one inlet and one outlet. Need to go to separate water lines to the ESC and motor, I am sure that will help. Also my batts are only 20C, so I can't run it like a sport boat with this prop. My goal was 60mph, I got there and will just have fun with the boat now and a Prather S215.

Your absolutely right Raydee. Temp gun is a must, that will be next. It didn't feel super hot, I could hold my fingers on the end bell forever.

which turnigy esc, the 180A? Sounds like you need to prop down a tad if you're running hot enough to thermal the esc off.

I'm beginning to like the sound of the Medusas more all the time! Everyone that has them seems to have good luck. Lot cheaper than a NEU if they're put out and hold together!

I just got my Seaking 180A in the mail today (same as the turnigy). The manufacturer of the Seaking stuff is a friend of mine. His aircraft speed controllers are some of the best I have ever used. Hopefully his boat stuff will be just as good. One of our club members is running the 180 and having good results....in a whiplash with a NEU 1515/1Y

Sailr, tell your friend who manufactures the seaking esc's that his product ROCKS! I've had excellent luck with them so far and they're priced really well!

Thanks Rumdog. Everything I've seen about them is excellent. I'm keeping two for myself! Haha. That leaves 8 that I'll have for sale. Yes, they're more expensive than Hobby City but they never seem to have them in stock either. Cheap is only good if they have it!

Keep watching this thread. Hope to have them in stock within the next 10 days!

I am using the 120amp Seaking with a Medusa 3670-1600 on 6s 5000Mah Turnigy lipo with the Prather S225. I have the 180 Seaking as well, I just wanted to see how much I can push the 120 amp ESC. It will run all day with no problems with a X642 at about 55 mph. If I get some better batteries I will throw the 180 Seaking in and go have some fast runs.

That's pretty impressive out of just a 120A! The Seaking ESC's seem to be really good.
