    Impending Doom?

    Trying to avoid problems.

Sunday will try my Mean Machine for the first time.

    Will run a 9XL, Hacker 70 ESC on two 7.4V 5000 MAH 25C Lipos. With a M445 Prop

Will this be a problem? Plan to run for one minute then check temp.

just want to avoid a smoked anything.

    Thanks

My original Mean Machine set up was very similar -

    Hacker 70
    8XL
    440/3 prop
    2 x 2S 5000 mAh packs

I ran 7 laps of a 1/8 mile course with 25C cells without problems. With 30C cells, I thermalled after 4 laps (no blow up though), so I was close to the limit.

In your case, I would start with an X442 prop if you have one.

I would certainly surely start out with smaller props and see what you get.
      Many issues!!!

I agree, start with the x442. Go much smaller and you may not go fast enough to stay on step - that means heating things up fast. Otherwise it sounds reasonable to me. The 70A controller is small but may work fine.

Well after the maiden voyage everything went great. Some small leaks at the water jacket
outlets but otherwise no problems. This thing is so stable it was a dream to run. Quite the contrast to the SV-27. Not that the 27 isn't fun just not nearly as stable.

puddle jumper. start with a small prop. get it going as fast and effic(sp) as possible then move up in props. you can see a 10mph increase in the same setups. 70 amp esc is on the low side stay small my friend.

Ran a set of packs through today. Been playing with strut settings and cog. Still running wet but went 35mph. Strut 1/4 inch above the bottom of the hull. Thermiled the hacker 70 after
about 3 minutes may need to upgrade or prop down. Temped it @ 111 once I got the cowl off.
                So the testing continues.

the motor and esc temp will actually go up for a little bit after you quit running because the water is no longer going through to cool them. The length of time it takes to remove the hatch and temp them usually gives you a bit higher reading. At least that's what I've been told and I've observed it myself on a friends boat using an eagle tree system to check temps underway.

After further adjustment to strut angle (Angled up) went 42mph today. Still shutting down after 3-4 minutes. Not sure if this is because of temp shutdown by the Hacker 70 or my lipo sheild. After around two minutes I had power again and did not have to test my casting skills.

Time to get an e-logger so you know what the problem is.
