    Titan 33

In the break between races we have been working on the boats and mostly on a new SV-27, a Titan 33, and repainting the older SV27.

For paint it is all Duplicolor automotive paint and we tried for a similar paint scheme on all three boats. The Titan and the new SV both use Duplicolor chameleon paint. The Titan has green/purple chameleon and the SV has red/blue chameleon.

The Titan will have Feigao 580 6L power, a Turnigy 180 controller, and Hyperion 4s 5200 batteries.

Standby for video of us testing the Titan for the first time...it should be wild!!!

Nice. I am ordering parts for my titan tomorrow. I will be running the 580L 10 turn with 5s2p Li-Po's. It should be a fun boat. Can't wait to get it finished. Please keep us updated on videos and set-up info.

For a bit more detail on the Titan 33 hardware setup:

The outdrive is the OSE/Speedmaster Mono hardware system with the stinger strut and speedmaster rudder. It will be using a .150 flex drive cable.

The motor mount is a combination of the ETTI adjustable 540 sized mount on the front plate of the motor, and a Williams 4 inch rail style mount supporting the back. I used the other ETTI mount in front because it got the motor down lower in the boat than using two rail mounts.

The trim tabs are the ETTI 2 inch wide tabs.

The turn fins are from Fuller's - left and right side fins.

The battery connections are OSE 5.5mm bullet connectors.

I will get some pictures tonight of the hardware...

Here are some additional pictures of the hardware installation. Still some details to complete, like a boot for the pushrod exit... but it is close to complete.

Hopefully we are going to be able to do some testing early next week, probably Tuesday. The video should be awesome...cant wait to see how fast this boat will go.

The boat hit the water today for the first time.

We ran with an P220 prop for 39mph on the GPS, but I didn't have any x645 or similar props along for the test. <head slap>

I think the real issue was that the boat was pulling to the right, even though the rudder was straight... maybe one of the turn fins was digging in a bit and causing the turns. We should have some video shortly...

That is a gorgeous Titan 33! The speed is on the slow side for the setup; with the rpm the 580/6L gives you should be deep into the 40s. My personal Titan has the fins mounted out near the chines, and I'd recommend that on any mono. That position puts them mostly out of the water when the boat is runing straight, then gives the best leverage when the boat is turning.

You will need a bit of left trim on the rudder anyway, particularly when you put on a larger diameter prop. Trimmed correctly a 4S Titan shouldn't need more than an m445 to m545 to hit 50 mph, particularly with a 6L motor with its high Kv. Too much pitch will just add heat with little speed increase...finding that 'tipping point' will be the key to the best speeds. Good luck!

Well Fluid, you were right on the mark.

After a few adjustments we tested again today with an M445 prop and hit 50.9 and 52.9 mph.

                      Sweet.
