    wire drive specs

Wire drive specs means this; in the issue of RCBM-Oct. 2003 reads that wire drive has less revolutions than the cable due to wire diameter. I stand corrected, sorry. Time to retire. Fluid wrote the article, so actually i was half right. " This means less friction because the wire is moving half as fast as the cable. Sorry i even brought up the subject now. I always stand corrected, i'm married!

I think that is incorrect. If it was true the output at the prop would be half of what it is at the output of the motor. This would very quickly snap the wire.

Nope...totally wrong. It spins the wire at the same rpm as the motor. But what happens is smaller dia has less resistance. If that were the case we would all be running 1/4" cables or larger.

As Jeff stated, the rpm is the same. What is different is the speed of the surface of the wire - that is half the speed of the surface of a 0.130" cable. This is where most of the reduced friction comes from that makes wire drives more efficient. Rub two surfaces together fast, then slowly - which gives less friction?
