....where do you get your data to say this is "entirely false", I'd like to see it!
Three years ago I wired a Victory LSH controller like the OP did, bending the wires in a tight 180-degree fashon and tying the wire off with cable ties. A club member asked if that hurt performance since kinking a water line stops the flow. I checked the voltage drop with a 6" length of 14ga silicone wire, first with the wire straight and then when sharply bent in vice grips - no discernable voltage difference at 30 amps on a Fluke VOM. The wire quality was good so no wire damage - had a significant number of wire strands been damaged, perhaps there would have been a noticeable drop.

Ever looked inside a BL motor? Hundreds of tight 180 degree turns in the windings, yet somehow these motors can operate with up to 90% efficiency. Where is the dramatic voltage drop here? Where is any evidence that this is a problem in the FE hobby?

Words mean things. When you unequivocably state that it "increases resistance dramatically", then when challenged you change to it's "debatable", what are we to think? The OP already has decided that adding wire is the way to solve the severe "problem" you identified - which is exactly the wrong thing for him to do if he wants to reduce resistance. Following your advice could have cost him $$$.

I am sorry that you were offended by my post, hopefully the OP and other new FE boaters will learn from the exchange.

There is no added resistance (DC) or impedance (AC) by simply bending a wire.

Fair enough, Fluid. The main reason I responded to you and didn't blow you off was exactly what you stated, for the FE community. I had no data (just advice from my dad) to say that it DID cause resistance and am enlightened by your response. I was not offended by the challenge but by how you stated it. Thanks for the example and the patience in responding with data.

Regardless...The bends in the wires are not going to be that big of a deal, If it was a 5mph decrease just because that much of a tight bend...Id be worried...

but its not going to be that big of a deal unless your trying to break records..(saw).

I wouldn't be that offended to Fluids statments..

I take that back, breaks in the wires.. yea big deal.. but if the bend didnt put stress on the wires dont worry...

Jesse / Fluid: sorry to intrude in your discussion, but you were both right... and wrong.
Sharp bends are a concern, but not from a resistance point of view. They only matter in HIGH frequency / high voltage applications. The problem is caused by auto induction.
In the FE applications it does not really matter, with the flex cables we work nowadays.
My dad has an electrical background and he is saying the same thing as Jesse's, BUT just because single core cables (50's-60's) were prone to break/strangle, thus reducing cross sectional area.
Sorry again for the intervention, but I think this will clear it even more... :)

Good point Cornel, my dad is probably thinking single strand as well, these multistrand can probably take it, but it does do some damage.

moral of the story, only state what you have learned through experience and can back up with data....
