Tiki themed Micro Mogli paint job!

Ok, so here is the 1st of my quasi custom paint jobs. I have a few hulls to paint, and figured i would start with this little guy. All painting was done with basf r&m automotive paint, and some off brand clear that a supplier gave me (gotta love free stuff!) Colors are whatever I have laying around the paint shop, I try to pick stuff that goes well... All sprayed with a sata mini jet, but i think i may need to break out the air brush for the more detailed stuff. The bamboo and tiki dudes were done with stencils, and the color breaks were done freehand with fineline tape. Must have about 6 coats of clear, so 3 times as much as your full size car outside does!!!

Only had one issue, the silver on the "windshield" peeled a little when I removed the tape, grrrr I touched it up with a brush and it is not vissible at every angle. Oh well, it is a toy boat, right?!

Enough with the gabbing here are some pics.

Thanks guys! He does look a bit like a decpticon... Thanks Diego, you just gave me an idea for another paint job!!!

Any ideas will be welcome, so fire away. I have a 27" cat, 32" mono, sv27, mini gecko, 26" mono and a shockwave 55" to paint. Maybe a ul1 if I really feel like it! The shockwave 55 will have the old 80"s miami vice paint scheme, not the pilot episode, but the season 2 design, IIRC.

The green yellow and white did come out pretty good. The green is a Europe only audi color, has alot of gold pearl in it. The yellow is mustang chrome yellow, with some yellow pearl added. The white is just plain old ford oxford white. I have no idea what silver I used, something with alot of metallic.

I don't blame you on skipping the tiki theme! Something different I guess.

Thanks for the kind words, I am glad people like the boat (and my painting!)

Yep, I have a buddy who gave me a few. They are self adhesive, but take a bit of work to mold around corners and curves. I am trying to find some more of them with different designs.

I hate painting rc bodies. They suck. I like painting stuff the right way.

Thanks Cory, your opinion means a lot to me... Really. I am glad you like the paint job.
