What motor and esc for a 34" H&M cat?

Just bought a 37" H&M Maritimo cat hull. It has a FineDesign hardware, and a x646 prop. I want to run it with a Feigao 580 9L, ETTI 150 esc, and 6s lipo. What do you guys think of this setup?

If I were to set it up, I would go with a 12XL on 6S, with a 642 prop. Your ESC should do fine on this set up.

To use 6S and that prop you would need a real beefy ESC... Do you realize that your proposed set up would be spinning nearly 60,000 rpms? and with that prop you could be looking at ridiculous amps - like 300+

Actually, he's talking about the 580 9L, not the 540. So he will only be turning 31,657 on 6s. Pretty good rpms there.

I think the prop may be larger to start off with but otherwise, the setup looks great.
My prop hasn't been wet in a while.

Thanks for confirming on the setup plan... I will now persue on with the setup. However, i might use a Turnigy 180amp esc instead of the ETTI 150amp esc as planed.

I would strongly consider the 10L or 12XL instead, an 11XL would be about perfect. The 9XL Kv is pretty high for a 6S sport setup and that large hull. It will need a prop around 50mm to push it efficiently. The OP will be able to use a low amp controller with more confidence and have more run time with the lower Kv motors. It really depends on what the OP wants to do and how valuable run time/reliability is to him.

Thanks for responding. I was hoping you would give me some advices to set this boat up correctly. Are you refering to the 540 10L or the 580 10L? My original plan was a 580 9L. Is it not a good choice? According to OSE, the 580 L motor is for large 30-40" cat hull. Mine is 37" plus the FDM hardware which makes it total41" . So, are you recommending a 540 11XL? BTW, i have a 32" cat running on a 540 9XL.

Actually I was refering to the 580 motors since that is what you were talking about. . You are looking for too high a prop rpm with the 580/9XL, amp draw will be high and you'll need to run a prop with too small a diameter. That hull will run better with a prop around 50mm than with one 45mm in diameter.

Unless you are only interested in GPS racing and are not too concerned aobut run time or blowing ESCs, go with a 580 with a lower Kv like the 12XL. That is a pretty large boat.

Are the ETTI 150amp, or Turnigy 180amp esc good for 580 10L, and 12L motor?

The x648 prop has a 1.9" diameter, which is close to 50mm you were referring to.
