Aeromarine Titan 33"- Questions on set-up

Hello All,

I am new to OSE forums and I am in search of some advice. I recently ordered an Aeromarine Titan 33" hull from OSE and I have a couple of questions regarding set-up....

Motor

I am torn between two motor sizes:

The Neu 1515 1.5D
OR
The Neu 1521 1.5D

ESC

I am going between these two ESC's also:

Castle Creations Hydra 120A
OR
Castle Creations Hydra 240A

Flex Cable and Hardware

I am either going to use:

The .150 flex cable
OR
The .187 flex cable

And I am also not sure as to hardware I will be able to use if I do end up going with the .187 flex cable. I am currently looking at this hardware: http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...od=ros-monosys
but it says that it comes with the .150 flex cable and I am not sure as to whether or not the .187 cable will be able to fit through the Strut.

I am going to mainly be doing sport running with this boat. I will be running 2 2-cell lipo's in series. Maybe I'll run a 5-cell Lipo set up once in a blue moon. I am really just looking for a fast, reliable, and fun set-up to run with my boat. I also would like some head room and lee-way so I am not pushing the parts of the boat to the limit.

Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated. Also, I am open to any and all opinions and options that you may bring up, so please do share.

cant help you with the motors, but with the flex cable you can get 3/16 shafts that take .187 flex, if you go this route just make sure you use the larger size brass tube to take the larger teflon liner (if used)

The fastest setup will be the 1521/1.5D, 240 Castle, with the 3/16" cable. But it will draw a lot of amps, and you will probably be limited to 3-4 minutes tops regardless of how you prop it. A racing setup with a large prop is 1-2 minutes - if your packs can keep up. 2P is almost mandatory. You will not be able to get the Titan 40 much over 50 mph and keep it reliably upright. I had to add 1.5 lbs of lead to mine to keep it reliable at 50 in race water.

A better sport setup would be a Feigao 10XL or 11XL, still using the 240 Castle for cheap insurance. Use 3/16" cable. This will give you speeds in the 40s, longer run times and will not stress your cells so much. I'm not trying to talk you out of the Neu setups, but they have costs beyond what you pay for them upfront. As long as you are aware of that, then okay.

I built my Titan 33 for sport but am now getting into racing. I have to run with the nitro guys in novice class for now so I need a bit longer run time. I run a Neu 1515 1Y with a Etti 150 speed controller and two 4S, 30c, 4500 mAh packs in parallel (4S2P). I also run about 15 ounces of balast and she tops out in the upper 40's with a X640 prop. I ran my first race this weekend and it was very choppy on the first day. The balast realy helps keep the Titan planted. In the last heat I ran two mil laps, 6 race laps and a cool down lap and used about 2/3's of the packs capacity. All temps were in the 120's when I was done. Fun, Fun, Fun!!!

Fluid, you said that I would be able to use the feigao motors. Would the 580 sized motor work? If so, which kv rating would you recommend. Also, will the .187 flex cable fit in the Hardware mentioned below:

I have no experience with the 580 motors so I can't help there. For the cable question, you'll have to ask Steven.

...what is the total weight of your Titan 40 ready to run?

I've never weighed it, but probably around 7 lbs.
