    First Cat 36'' Sprint Cat

I'm getting ready to build my first cat, a 36'' sprint cat from aeromarine. Since this is my first one I may need a bit of help. I have most of the parts already and I went and picked up the hull from Steven this morning.

    Here is the proposed setup

speedmaster large strut and .40 rudder
    .187 flex cable
    645 hitec servo
    futaba 3pm 2.4
    cc hydra 240
    4s2p poly rc lipos 30c 5000mah
    neu 1521 1.5d

Let me know what you think of the setup, I'm open to suggestions. This will be for sport running and casual racing.

I am sure it will rip, I have a 36" Cat with 2x 4s packs and a 1521 it goes very nicely, mines the other way round with 8s1p on a 2.5d rather than 4s2p on a 1.5d but its all the same power, you will have a little less revs and swing a bigger prop being that I'm half a turn down on double your turnage, so I was going to say that a 645 wasn't going to be enough prop for sprinting other than as a starting point being that I run an X646 then I noticed that it was your servo not your prop so I will shut my mouth.

Thanks. The motor and hatch should be arriving next week so I can get started on the layout. I looks like my packs won't fit in the sponsons, so everything will have to go between the rails but it should fit ok. I'll just need a long stuffing tube and cable to mount the motor up front, it seems that is where it has to go to get the proper cog. Until the rest of the stuff arrives I will get the strut and rudder mounted and think about the layout.
I think the cc240 should be ok as long as I prop it correctly, I've had good luck with them so far. I only blew one which was my fault before I knew what I was doing, I guess that implies I know what I'm doing now, which I don't but I'm learning.

John Fruge and My self ran them on 10S2P lipo I had a 3040 14T in mine it ran in the mid 70ties. Great fun But, too small to chase down the gas cats.

Randy can you pls post a pic of the inside and what is the height of your strut?

I have mine with 6s2p 1527/1y, cut the rails a bit to fit the bats in the sponsons but very hard to reach them. I am thinking now to rearrange motor far forward and bats on the tunnel. It is very fast hull but right handling needs proper adjustments, cog-strut

I did a lot of testing and I like the setup in the 41 the best hear is a link to the build. it will show you how I did mine and the 36 will be the same way.

Ps It looks like I have the Jessy James hull and it is a lot wider at the hatch.

Here is my SprintCat 34" (it really measures a tad over 34" - why they call it 36" is beyond me). Mid-70s on 4S.

I got the strut and rudder mounted this weekend. After a bit more measuring it seems that I could fit the batts in the sponsons if I want. It would be tight but would work. So which way is better? I could put them between the rails and they would sit higher and in the center of the boat, or in the sponsons where they would sit lower and at the edges of the boat. It would make sense that it would handle better with them low and wide but this is my first cat so I have no idea. Any opinions?

From my experience with this hull fitting the 6s bats in the sponsons is a pain in the ... especially when trying to move them to adjust the cog. But yours are 4s so smaller than 6s, if you can reach them and handle them easily probably better to place them in the sponsons.

Mr.Fluid many many thanks for posting the photo, excellent. Extremely rare to find an inside photo of a Sprintcat 34" of a racer.
