I use wire solder and a mold of wood.
then do the finish on emery and spray some clear coat to keep bright..

All BS aside, a guy had a scale boat like yours out @ spreckles lake in San Francisco, Ca
last saturday and I swear the sucker was hittin' 37-40mph solid as a rock!!
