Tyler, cheers for the offer on the 5.5's. I will be getting a bunch of stuff in to complete the power train for this buils and 5.5's are on the list. The Deans are what were on the packs as shipped and have done over a hundy(k) in another hull so I will leave them as is for now and may change to big bore bullets later. PM me on this one.

Andy I will not get this one drawn up properly, let alone laser cut until it does a hundy(k) As for free goodies, My address is 6 Castle...... Call Paddy at 3 AM he has my address

Paddy Given that this is my take on the X-3 I need a name for it.
You and Andy as the biggest contributors to this project get first naming ideas. PM your best. This keeps a build thread less cluttered.

Progress is slow as I am very busy at the moment with extra shifts at the station plus my lawns and Dads house lift.

            Next steps
The sponsons are skined, they now need the bottom surface trued perfectly flat before I put the ply skin on, the tops will have a cosmetic ply skin too.

I have the alloy for the side plates to support the front sponson boom. Cf in the right size is not available locally (can be made) and shipping is a killer right now, so I have gone for alloy. It polishes up nice too.

The deck will go on next in a few days. I can't start on a hatch until that is on.
Once have the tub complete with hatch I need 4-5 days to apply and cure 3 more coats of varnish on the outside. I want this one to look nice at least.

Lastly I need an ESC, I am seriously looking at the Himodel 200.
I will then need some props. I am going to give the Graupner K-series cf props a spin to get the boat settled in before I give it a metal wheel.
I will use a smaller 431 and 632 for the 2S fleet to practice my prop work skills on.

            I'm working on it !!!!

Simon I have a few Hi-Model esc'c and if it is speed you are after use a CC hydra 240. The Hi-Models are kind of like an unpredictable hand grenade, some work, some do not and every now and then BOOM!!!!!

LOL yea i have done 2 HiModel's, one for me with the 35v capacitors, and i got water in my boat and it blew cause i didnt do the sealing right. The second one, i did for a mate in hamilton, and it came with 25v capacitors. I have full confidence in this one. I didnt test it in a glass of water, but i believe it probably could have survived it.

Now i'm running a CC240, Simon you beento HPM lately? Don't know if they have any more of them left, but if they do they will be cheaper to buy from there then to bring one in, only because they bought them when our dollar was good.

                Tyler.

P.S. sorry i havent got the bullets off yet, school has been crazy this week, ill try and get them off monday.

                  A little more progress.
The deck sides are on, sponsons are fully sheeted and need a lot more varnish.
I am getting there on the hardware layout, servo mount will be made when the servo arrives. Stuff tube will be expoxied in later, test fit is good.

The biggest job now is to make a top cowling / cover that fits the motor under it and looks good too.

I have a lot of sanding / polishing to do and finishing work.

Once it looks o.k I will take it outside in the sun and get a few good photos of it.

                    Hatch is now fitted.
                    Jobs to do include:
                    Steering servo mount
                    Antenna cable route and mount
Complete and attach sponson boom support spars. The alloy portions that run forward from the rear to front sponson booms.
                    Epoxy in the stuff tube.
                    Varnish....wet sand....varnish....wet sand..... varnish.....we....
Wait for ESC to come from Hong Kong.

It is now good to go.
All I need is a smoke controller that is in the mail from Hong Kong.
Here are a few pics that will let you all know that I have not being sitting on my jacksie doing nothing.
                      Enjoy !!

Fantastic job Simon! I commend you on your skill. You have a talent for building all of these scratch built boats from sketches. No plans, no schematics, just a vision that has been put on paper. I think a few of us are waiting to see her smoke Paddy's Mr Krabs right Andy.............LOL just kidding Paddy!

Tracy, even I am waiting to see that and will not be upset if it does. I like to see people rewarded for effort and Simon has put a great effort into this project.

Simon this is a truly remarkable job.
