Jimmy twelve months ago I bought a CNC taig mill of off ebay for under $2000 with not a clue as to how to run it , joined the mach3 forum and within 3 months got a fairly clear understanding on how to write my own G-code in notepad and make some really cool things , anyone with the time and enthusiasm can with time get real proficient with what ever they design . being the dumbass that I am I surprise myself every day

What I am trying to say is that anyone can do this in fact I could teach a grade 3'r G-code in 15 minutes

How does a drawing file like DXF or DWG translate or get converted into G-code? Can you point me in the direction of a G-code support forum(mach3)?

Lombard I havent quit gotten that far as to convert DFX or DWG , but I am getting fairly good at writing my own 2D projects , for 3D I will need to learn a Cad program..............near future . mach3 is the program you will use to control your CNC mill , great program and very easy to learn , you can download the demo which is still full featured up to 500 lines of code and play with it on you computor or laptop . I messed with it for months before the mill arrived just to get a good feel of what I was doing , you can also download the 150 page instruction booklet in PDF format , I got my son inlaw to print it out which is handier than reading it on the screen

          Mach3 forum.............http://www.machsupport.com/forum/

Very nice build,,, love the motor choice! I am waiting on my 2230/1Y to arrive, should have it in a couple days.. I am going to test it in my Cat's first,, but really intend on building a Mono.. I like the DF Sniper alot, but also like the looks of the Herzog Hurricane..

I would love to see some video of this beast in action!

Peter as normal for you, its outstanding work. I have one question, with the cooling tubes mounted in the motor mount, is there any change a slight twist in the rails will damage the esc? I guess I'm asking is if the tubes are in there tight or floating?

Steven there is absolutely no twist , the unit is solid as a rock ( like a chevy ) it has frame connectors each side that joins the front mount to the rear , the ESC floats on the silicon tubing but is in there tight

I forgot that the mount was attached, front to back. My worry was that the esc cooling tubes are attached to the sandwiched plate and that the twist may cause a separation, but you got that covered.

I'd recommend building a floor for the center line packs so they sit flat. Easier to tie them down that way. 6S packs have a lot of mass and you don't want them flying around inside the boat. The side packs are held in place nicely and cannot fly around easily.

Sure. Just send me one of those really nifty cooling jackets and the servo/RX mount and I'll snap all the pictures you want!!

In the mean time, I use a simple carbon fiber plate that goes into a groove cut in the lip of the hull at the front of the hatch opening. I use two small wood screws into a palte in each rear corner for added security. Then I tape it up for water proofing. So far it has held up pretty well.
