    Whiplash 20!!

Well after watching the father(Gas Sport Whiplash) run like a raped jaguar on rails, I decided I wanted a FE Hydro that ran like this as well! So I went for the Whiplash 20. After searching some setups and looking at build, I got a kit and started. Here's some quick pics of my build up! I took these with my phone as the build took place. Its only 2 megapixels but bad!

    List of mostly everything:
Whiplash 20 kit from Brian Blazer
    SpeedMaster Mini Rudder Hydro
    Speedmaster 21 Strut Flat Bottom
    Hughey .150 Flex Shaft
    Neu 1515/1Y/S
    Castle Creations Hydra 240
    Aquacraft UL1 Turnfin
    Adjustable Motor Mount
    TowerPro MG995 servo
    Octura X637,X640, X642, X645, M445, M545, M645

Hopefully she'll be able to run 5 solid laps at about 50-55mph...

And for some pics in chronological order...

Here's the progress up until installing the turn fin.

Let me know what you guys think!

Here is some pics of the blind nuts installed for the turn fin and then finished sheeting the top deck. You can see that we didn't want to remove all of the front area where the battery is going. So we built it as the plans go the the Nitro, and then made our cutout for the battery to fit up front. I also laid the unfinished cowl on the hull to get the feel of what it will look like!!

I opted for the Aquacraft UL1 turnfin, however, we hated that nasty black anodized finish. So Kevin buffed it off with a plastic wire wheel. Wade took it with patience, used 360 grit sandpaper, then 600, the some finer grit, and then some cloth, and then buffed it with Blue Devil to a mirror finish! It looks like a mirror! He also sharpened it on a stone for me as well.

Here is a strong, sturdy, and super adjustable motor mount as well..

And Kevin and Wade's business card. I decide to have the Byyouboyz R/C Boats business card epoxied in to show off and give credit where credit is due! Thanks guys!

Lookin good. I've wondered about those mounts, are they strong enough to take a good load?

I'll find out for sure. Everything bolted up, it hold the motor snuggly.. sitting there tho. I'll see how it holds up under a load.

            Looks good Bro!

What packs are you going to use?? Looks like you need more room in the front to run 4s2p?

I have not been able to work on mine that much.. I will post a build thread later on..
Nothing like keeping you lipos warm and your prop wet!!

I'll be purchasing (2) Elite 5000 35C 4s packs. I've have good service from these in my RC Truck as well as a friend of mine. I know a couple guys on here run the Elite's also. At 175 amp continuous discharge, I don't think I'll need the 2p, I don't have room either. I've been trying to get some setup pics from Raydee of his, he ran 4s2p. I don't see where I could fit that unless push the motor further pack and trim out all of the bulkheads....

Looking good so far! You'll love the Whip, they're a really good boat.

Your setup will be very similar to mine. I'm running the same motor with a TP 5000 pack up front (4S1P). I want to try those Elite packs, but I'm not sure if they'll fit in my boat.

I fooled around with a few props at the end of last year, and have found the ABC 1614/3 'chopper' prop to be brilliant! I bought it for a mono, but it runs so well on the Whip it's never coming off! Heath runs the same set up with an M445 and it is very quick also.

I'm using a Mike Hughes turn fin, and it turns brilliantly. I did shorten the fin a bit because it's quite long.

Make sure you epoxy the outside too. I used marine varnish (lots of epoxy on the inside though), and I don't think it is as strong as it could be.

                Cheers,
                Scott

                    Cory,

                    Raydee was running 2x 4S 3200/30C packs...

He also used a Mike Hughes turn fin... With great results.. Mike H. is over on intwaters forums, I ordered a .20 and .40 fin from him...
