Now I am not a builder neither is my son but we do some assembling!

Just to add more fuel to thought process take a look at this skater cat that MHZ sells --- it is a semi scale of the 39' Skater! Talk about angles .... man!

      Skater

yeah, I have that picture saved also. Inside spray rail on the tunnel. Lots of steps. low deadrise but no pad. Kind of an inbetween setup.

I think that would tend to be a wet ride. No pad to get up on, but no chines along the bottom either on the back portion to help limit spray contact. Front have it, maybe it helps hold the end down to the water???? I don't know. 12 degrees is sounding pretty good for a deadrise.

The large venom gas cat has a standard deadrise bottom on it. Handle the water excellent it looks like. Turning could be better, thier videos do not really push it much. Will have to look at other videos on youtube and see what they are doing.

The Skater was pretty successful on the circuit last year(1st place I think)! I like this hull because its different that what most of the guys are building!

I also need to mention that I have a 27" version of this hull that I increased the width by 10% to 9". This is my Miss Geico that I have posted up in the vid thread. This one has no ride pad and an 11deg DR. One strake (as shown in the plans couple posts back) and the spray rail. This one does great, rides nice and dry and corners nice - kinda slippery turns; reminds me of my 1/10th Ferrari drifter.

You think? $289 + sh for a 29" glass boat!?!?!?
They are all pricey. Nice, but pricey. The iceberg is the only reasonable one. Heck the 43" one are $400 or more.

                      Perfect

Alright Jesse! That 27" is perfect man, it speaks to me

Yep, that is what I am building this winter but at 20" long. Lets see what I end up with. Some great running cats, happy kids, a divorce.... lets wait and see!

I have to get a motor in my 24" WOF cat and run that this weekend. Thier should be a nice box sitting at home for me tonight from China with electronics in it

Also need an eagle tree for amp logging. I have no idea right now other than to run a full pack and time how long it takes.

                      Thanks for posting that jesse.

Compared to what I spent on my Toysport twin drive Jolly $289 is almost reasonable!

But my Jolly came with the Hardware installed from Toysport!

My pleasure, glad it spoke to you. it is definitely one of the funnest cat I've driven.

I got me one of these and a stop watch and you can get a really good feel for timing your runs:

It has saved me tons on batteries (I have never puffed one... ever). It is programmed to tell you 0% which is actually set to 20%. So as long as you have some left on this meter, you are in healthy battery life shape.

Sorry, George. All I know is MTI had the first design of the hump that was we ever saw so you could be right. I have never seen a skater look like that and I have seen almost every offshore team cat at our OS nationals at the Lake.

Or whomever tagged that pic put Skater on it not knowing the difference. Here it is.

It is an MTI...Randy would NEVER allow anyone to copy his designs and especially Skater.

Your quite right about the higher deadrise running deeper for a given speed being why they turn better, the deeper inside flat side of the inside sponson acts like a long shallow turn fin on a hydro, however they also tend to be narrow with not enough stability to turn as well as they can, also being scale models of the current offshore cats they don't have much or any anti-trip angle on the outside of the sponsons like the yellow one in post 31.
