What kind of hull? what size hull? How many batteries do you want to run? Whats your spending limit? Do you have batteries and charger already?

    Just need some info...
My prop hasn't been wet in a while.

Do you have any FE experience? If not then start with something like an SV27. It's only a 40 mph boat when properly tuned, but it is a great teaching platform.

Once you have the basics down you can start figuring out how to go fast.

But if you must, a Delta Force 33 or Storm with a 9XL motor, Castle 120 and 4S2P packs will do very nicely to nudge up against that 50 mph mark.
      Don't get me started

I agree with Bill for a fast mono. If you want a 50mph catamaran, then my recommendation would be a Mean Machine hull with Feigao 9XL motor, 4S2P Lipos, Hydra 120 ESC, Speedmaster hardware, m545 final prop size. If you want to go 55-60mph, a Neu 1515/1Y motor will get you there.
        Mean Machine Cat: 9XL, 4S2P, CC120, M545 (50mph) -- DF22 Hydro: 8L, 3S1P/4500, CC120, x637 (49mph) -- M-1 SuperCat: 1521/1Y, 6S2P, CC240, x447 (61mph) -- SV27 Mono: stock setup, 14-cell/4200, x642 (42mph) -- Micro Scat Cat: 28-3600, 3S1P/2100, Turnigy 60, x430 (41mph)

A fairly healthy bank balance is always good start if you want to do 50 mph on the water
To give you an idea here, I have been working with fast model boats for the last 18 months. I do know what it will take to get to 50 mph.
Two of my hulls are now pushing 40, considering I designed and built them I am well happy.

          Back to your question.
50 on the water is fast !!
Have you any R/C experience, cars, planes, helis, ??
What gear do you have, batteries, chargers, etc.
Do you have a proposed budget.

Keep in mind one thing, and it is not an easy piece of advice that many people like to take, you must walk before you can run.

The SV27 is a great boat to get you going.
          See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

On a budget here is what I would go with for a catamaran.

              Mean Machine Hull
              Etti Brushless Navy Race 150
              Either the 580 8L or 540 10XL
              Either 6s1p or 6s2p
(Using 6s instead of 4s will pull less amps and in turn run cooler.)

If money is not an issue here is the setup.
              Mean Machine Hull
              Hydra HV ESC
              Neu 1521 1Y
              Either 6s1p or 6s2p

Depending on the prop you should be able to get upper 40s to low 50s. My experience with Lipos and brushless motors is that a heavier boat generally is better.

If you don't mind something that only turns right, I would recomend the Rigged Insanity from OSE with the SV27 motor and esc. They will turn left, but not very well. It's an outrigger designed for oval racing. Get a few of them together and you have a race.

I have several boats that will get you in the 50MPH range on 4S.

I agree with you there Joel! I am in the process of building one right now and there is PLENTY of help here and on other forums with the build and setups. It has been a great boat to build so far. I am using the new AquaCraft UL-1 Motor/ ESC combo and a couple 2s 5000 RC Poly lipos. Should be decent!
