shockwave 36 brushless

hey guys i just got a new shockwave 36 nitro rtr
and iam not a big nitro fan i wanted to convert it
to brushless but i dont kno what to buy and will any
of the hardware or electronics that is already in the boat
will work whit the brushlees setup work or do i have to completly
remove every thing /???????????????

There are some threads for this boat, by using the search you can find them. However if you do not have experience with boats or you have never build a boat before it will be quite difficult and maybe not get the right results. I have a 36" mono boat and the ideal setup for fast speed would be

Motor: NEU 1521/1Y
Batteries: 6s2p
ESC: Anything above 150A
Propeller: 45mm (X445,M445)

I don't know if the existing hardware will be OK. If there is a flex shaft 0.187 it is ok.

The SW36's hardware should be okay (.187). The only challenge will be too mount a suitable motor-mount for whatever motor you decide on. For 6S2P like Disar mentioned, try a Feigao 13-15XL as well to keep costs down.

I used a kb45 motor. If I did it today I would use a Feigao 580L if you are on a budget.

If you cant afford a Neu 1521 or 1527, I would stongly suggest the 580L as well... Something around 1150-1300kv and run 6s2p...

Yes Blane I too was equally surprised...... definitely not my first choice in power-plants for that size of boat , but it does work nicely

Why not? Its no saw record boat, but each xl will put out about 1hp, 2 xl's = 2hp. Plenty enough to get the boat on plane and moving.

One electric horsepower is equal to each 746 watts that a motor is using. IMO, I dont think this is a fair comparison between different motors pushing large hulls. (XL, Neu, Lehner) The true comparison would be with a torque rating.

"Torque is the amount of twisting force produced by the motor, and it is usually measured in pound-feet, or lb-ft."

I am surprised the 14XL has enough torque to push that much weight without over heating. This does make for a very low cost large boat. You might even be able run the two 14XL motors on one set of 6S lipos with the correct C rating? Many people have asked about cheap sport setups for large hulls. Glad to see one.

Yep, just don't look for SAW or Heat race speed from it. That looked about the speed of a stock Zenoah.
