    Project HPR CT 04

    Hello everybody!

First of all, I'm from Norway with Norwegian as my first language. So I apologize in advance for any spelling mistakes or poorly formulated sentences.

I bought this hull a couple of years ago, and finally I've got the time to start building.
I've modified a lot of boats in the past, men never built anything from skratch. And never a hull like HPR.

    My goals is: (UPDATED!)

    - 200 km/t +
    - Show-quality innside/out!
    - Fastest electric cat in Norway?

First question; what kind of motors do you recommend?
    Innrunner og out?

Iv'e been looking at this kit:
    Brushless motor | 56110-950KV | Bundle Box | Inrunner motor | 2220-BB (mhz-powerboats.com)

    Hello,

Nice to see another large HPR being built, there hasn't been many threads on HPR's for lots of years,

I have the 185 and 150 from HPR so either size of yours, In runners are probably the best option for going 160 km/h+

what's more important is what voltage are you intending to run on? 12 / 14s etc?

My 185 has 650 KV Lehner motors on 14s and runs 160km/h for 3 mins with cool temps.

        Thanks!

You just changed my mind, it'll be a Lehner motor! Either the 3060 or 3080. With a flat shaft, 10mm standard shaft and HiAmp variant.

How many winds do you recommend?

Not sure about how many cells, 12S I guess.

And I was looking at some standard motor mounts, but I saw the custom carbon plates you have in your boat. Is it possible to get some from Manuel? :)

With 12s you have the hobbywing max4 option, HV esc aren’t that common..

You don’t need a lehner for your goals but they are a lovely motor… I can ask Manuel but it may take some time as he is a busy guy.

            Mission Update:

I've ordered two Lehner 3080/6 motors. They are currently in production, and I should have them in about three weeks.
They ended up being much more expensive than I initially planned, but then again, this will probably be the only large HPR I ever build.
They have an enormous capacity, but there is a downside: batteries and ESCs will be expensive and difficult to find.

As I see it, the Lehner 3680/6 motors deliver an impressive 30 kW each at 50,000 RPM. If I were to use a 14S setup, the power draw would be an incredible 600 amps per motor! Those are huge numbers to put into an RC boat, and it will be challenging to find the right accessories. But no incredible project is ever easy! It will be exciting to see where I end up.

I'll figure out solutions as I go, and I welcome all feedback and advice from the forum.

The Arneson drives are already mounted, and I have the rudder, a carbon radio box from MHZ, and some decals.
The next two things on my list are deciding on the type of driveshafts to use and, of course, the motor mounts.
For the motor mounts, I am considering either making them in carbon fiber or having them CNC machined from aluminum. I'm still weighing my options.

            Any thoughts on the drives?

3080’s are absolute monsters, probably too much even.
