    can you series cap packs?

can you run 2 6s cap packs in series on a 12s system?

capacitors wired in series results in lower total capacitance, but does increase voltage capacity. capacitors wired in parallel increases total capacitance. The proper way to do it is to use high quality, fast 80V capacitors wired in parallel on a single bus circuit tied in to the 12S ESC power leads.

Learning question time. So most cappacks are made up of several appropriately sized caps soldered in parallel . Why not use a single cap similar to something like this but sized to your needs.

charge/discharge speed is the biggest reason, but size, weight, cost would also factor into the equation. Properly design capacitor banks can include series, parallel, or even both configurations. It's a design tool to achieve a specific performance target. Wiring individual capacitors in parallel is the most common setup.

The only reason is size, typically the smaller caps in parallel take up less space, also aids in lower resistance.
Yes, you could use a single cap with equivalent specs.

I'm also an E heli guy, and we use big caps as a BEC backup. They can provide enough power to feed the RX and keep the servos live in an emergency for 15-30 seconds depending on config so you have least have a chance to auto rotate the model down under control vs watching it fall like a rock

I've never seen the bigger ones used in place of multiple smaller caps in parallel like we use them though, even though its possible as has been stated.

Thanks for the answers. Like I said it was a learning question.

Now, cap packs for battery backup vs cap packs to filter out ripple are 2 different animals. Almost like apples and oranges with respect to intended use.
You want very low ESR caps to filter out the ripple, they typically use caps from the audio world to achieve the best results. As battery backup, you can use anything.
