    crackerbox motor esc options

my vac-u-cracker project has been on hold for a while but now i m ready to add the motor and esc... i understand that this is more of a drivers boat than a flat out speed machine but i d like to make it hit the mid 20s if possbile... obviously i don t want to over-power the boat and spend more time fishing it out of the pond upside down...

i still use matched 6 cell nimh bats for the meantime and thats what i ll be using to power the cracker... can you guys give me some options for brushless power... i m totally open to cheapo chinese motors and escs since i ve had good luck with these in my SV...

i appreciate and and all advice... the boat is looking good so far and i m stoked to get it in the water in the next month or so...

When my club raced CBoxes years ago we used ROAR '91 stock 05 motors on 6 round cells and easily got in to the low/mid 20s. The problem was keeping the boat on the water for very long at that speed - that's why the NAMBA SAW record for CBoxes is only 22 mph. You can probably get by with a 380-sized motor although a larger 540 is probably better. Choose a Kv around 4000/4400 in a short motor.

Tricks that worked to keep me in first place more often than not included:
    - a large turn fin about 3/4" square.
    - a prop no bigger than an x435
    - Minimum rudder endpoints - 3/16" movement to each side measured at the trailing edge
    - trim tabs bent very slightly down below the bottom
    - sanded the bottom with 400-grit wet-or-dry paper used wet
    - keep you eye on the boat at ALL TIMES

    .
ERROR 403 - This is not the page you are looking for

since i seem to be talking mostly to myself the project hasn t progressed

i was thinging about an 8S but a good friend of mine has made me think... how about a 10S ??? would the cracker get to a decent clip with the 10S ?? would a 60 A ESC handle it ???

            cheers
