First Build - Delta Force 26

Being completely impulsive, I decided to build a couple of boats to replace the cheapo plastic brushless junk I have now. Literally bought hull, guessed at hardware size based on the boat size spec on the listings so I have the hull, a TFL adjustable strut (ose-80990) and rudder (ose-83252). I have a Leopard 3650/2290kv coming, haven't order the shaft or stuffing tube setup yet, or the prop, because I'm just hacking away in my usual style.

By my calculations, the motor will get me 25,000rpm or so on 3S, I belive I'm going with the .15 cable, 3/16" prop shaft (ose-cable-150L-xL) and appropriate tube, which brought my ADHD driven design build op to a halt.

Looking at the stinger, looking at the rudder, have no idea what size prop I need on this but there appears to be an issue...IMG_2246 copy.jpg

After your done laughing, some navigational assistance would be appreciated.

The potential for contact is never good but in reality that might clear since you will only need about 1/2 of that travel or even less in that direction. Ideally you want a longer rudder setback. A general rule is leading edge of rudder even with drive dog but I prefer mine longer for the leverage and stability.

You could buy a longer rudder or bracket, or offset that one farther back with an extension.

I agree with Mike, I prefer to eliminate the possibility of interference. Even if the rudder travel is limited by the servo, you can still get a hyper extension during a crash. I hate it when the boat comes back with bent tips on the prop...

Went ahead and mounted the stinger since i know the stuffing tube size, then moved the rudder as far right as I could, I'll need to remove a small corner piece where it extends past the the transom but with a 40mm 1.4 prop setting in the stinger it clears, although it should be back further, we'll see how it runs, and if needed we'll address it.

And it's a good thing it's winter and the doors and windows are closed, there was at minimum, a full minute of f-bombs when I got careless, resulting in the hull doing a perfect nose dive from waist height... did not crack the hull, mostly damaged the gel coat except for the very tip. Oh well, going to be awhile before there's enough liquid water to play again.

Got a bag of goodies today from OSE, stuffing tubes, flex shafts, tabs, fins, servo mounts, tube supports etc. Unfortunately I was shipped the wrong motor a few weeks back so I'm getting a new collet to fix that, which is fine because I have no clue as to how to actually decide where to place the motor, bend the tube etc yet. I did however get the other hardware mounted so I made progress. I'm using 3M 5200 to seal up the stuffing tube, I'm running a liner, at least for now because that's why I'm familiar with, not sure how far into the stinger I should run the stuffing tube, fairly loose fit that allows for quite a bit of movement even if I run it all the way in.20191202_212111.jpg

Where can you get a 3s battery? or do you mean 4s?

You can get a 3S battery pretty much anywhere hobby batteries are sold

So, sanded the gelcoat with 400, shot liberally with primer/filler and block sanded with 600, 3 coats Krylon enamel, wet sanded with 1000, 2 more coats and baked for 2 hours at 150 degrees20191205_203549 copy.jpg

New mount got here and my thrust washers, so I got the drive line finished up.

What prop did you end up using? I am waiting for the hardware for my scratchbuilt mono (24"), and I am using a similar motor.
