Scratch Built Balsa Hood for Electric Outboard

I bought the Grey Scale Outboard from OSE for a project I got brewing on the bench. The size did not scale to the boat I'm planning and a spare motor I had laying around didn't quite fit.

After pondering what to do for awhile, this idea came to me. I thought I would share some pictures of what I got myself into.

The first five pictures show the biggest challenge, matching the interface of the hood to the lower end...

Here I'm framing up the hood to the scale size I need and for clearance to the motor...

What a difference after spraying with clear coat. Hard to show with pictures, but it has a deeper shine and accents the metallic series Rustoleum paint...

I should mention this is a stand off scale hood. I was limited by the scale of the lower end. For sure it looks better than the "Grey Scale Outboard" hood that it came with.

Also, I'm not using this for a SAW run boat. On 3s lipos the 3660 Leopard motor I already have will be right in the middle of the recommended 20 to 25 thousand rpm range.

Here's pics of the original hood versus the balsa hood. And two screen shots of a short shaft Evinrude 150 outboard I found online to model this after...
