    Phil Thomas Super Sport 45

So, I picked this boat up a few months ago, used. Yanked the turnigy motor and swordfish 80hv speedo out right away. Replaced with swordfish 220x w/data logger and a neu 1527 1y. Ordered front wing and I had to have the fe hatch.
I burnt 2 speedos right off the bat. First one, I plugged batteries in while laptop was hooked up. Ordered 2nd, put speedo to specs by neu, popped it as soon as I pulled trigger. Third one, I didn’t touch, put in, ran it. I could make nice wide laps no problem. As soon as I’d hug the bouys, it would 180. Thought maybe old turn fin was doing it so I ordered mojo curved turn fin. Still did it. Got looking at rudder, the leading edge of the rudder was in front of the pivot about 1/2”. Was too much for servo to handle. Got looking at it and it was pry for back in the day of barely on plane and s3003 servo. I then called speedmaster and ordered new rudder. Scratched my head wether I should just replace hs645mg right then or try it. I tried it and after 2 laps, it was uncentering. So I replaced with another hs645mg. Now I’m making laps with a x648 on it. Temp on motor was 91 degrees.
While driving I was feathering last 1/8 of trigger. Little light on sponsons. So I went up to a x450. Made 1/4 lap, heard motor take off but no propulsion. Rounded flat spot on cable for drive dog. Filed it back flat, cable started slipping in coupler, who knows how old cable was. Ordered new cable and coupler last week. I got 2 good runs on it. I’m on a x452 and temps are coming in around 115. Went out with unlimited gas hydro guys, mayb 2mph off their pace. I could hug bouys and keep them wide, I was even then.
I’m running 6s 5000 mah 60/120c turnigy hd packs. Just barely starting to swell, the very slightest. Still a touch light on the sponsons, so I ordered some graphene 6s 6000 mah 65/130c. They should be here Saturday and Sunday I’ll try with x455. Hopefully it’s enough between battery weight and bigger prop to get sponsons to stay on water. Trying not to put more angle in turn fin. I’ll get video Sunday and maybe put gps in it.

I have the 220x also in a box. How hard is this to program? Also, your data attachment did not work for me. What kind of amps you pulling with that 1527? I am looking at getting one for my GP400. Thanks

Fixed pic, thanks. It’s not too hard. Think there’s a thread in the esc section on how to set up. Seen somewhere guys were having alittle issue with downloading the files. Take the free thing it offers. I wanna say the first esc I popped. Make sure while hooked up to usb that your not supplying voltage from anywhere else. The second one didn’t like what I put in according to neu specs.3rd one I got, I didn’t touch except for lipo cutoff and it works great. When I get the first 2 back from repair, maybe I’ll play with timing and stuff. It’s holding 230amps for me. It’s a nice speedo, I just had to relearn stuff after a 10 year break and 10 years older...

Ouch on the blow over, any damage. I have been running my PT45 just about on the ragged edge for years and have been lucky to not blow it over yet.

No damage. Took on some water. Ken said I walked up the turn fin. I did jam a bunch of left in it. Thought I was inside.

Yeah they don't like much left rudder. Glad to see there wasn't any damage. I fear mine will sink in a bad blow over.

I haven’t drove a hydro for 10 years. This the first one with curved turn fin. Learning curve. Yours is that bad huh?

No not that it's bad. I just need to find a better way to secure the hatch over the winter. Right now I am just using tape and with a hull this heavy I don't think it will be enough if it goes over hard enough.

I’m taping only too. Gonna put a mount across right where tear dip ends and cut hatch in 2. Use less tape.

Got someone to video today. Still with m452 but with 6000mah 65/130c graphenes. Put m455 on and I think I pry should flat spot shaft where drive dog goes, something was slipping after I changed prop. Then the rain came.
