Conversion from Dumas 55 KV to Center Console Cigarette w/ Twin new X-Cat Outboards

Hi everybody, Just bought this NOS Dumas 55 inch KV on ebay and thought it would be a good hull for a center console conversion with the new X-Cat outboards that OSE is now selling. I will post photo's and info as the build progresses. Here's the first step so far . Cut deck off and add a glassed in transom 3/8 thick. Drill drain hole, Install stainless well nuts for engines, alter Stern to look like the real 38' Cigarette. Install water pick-ups in bottom. The reason I chose this hull is cause it resembles it's real counterpart and I'm looking for for scale appearance and scale speed. These hulls in the 1980's were real dogs to get over 50 mph with a 90 OPS , couldn't get them loose so I figured it would be a good choice for a scale build. This will be a very detailed build with a lot of niceties. So revisit often and you can watch the transformation. Enjoy Chip[/ATTACH]IM002769.jpgIM002772.jpgIM002770.jpgIM002771.jpg

Well,,, Today made a template for deck floor, and cut it out of cintra ,then cut the hole for radio/ esc/batteries box . This hole will determine the foot print for the center console. The box will be the exact size as the hole and rise 1 3/4 inches above the deck. Any water that gets on the deck will run around the box and drain out the scuppers that will be installed in transom that will be above the water line in the stern . The floor will be sealed all the way around the hull and box making a air compartment below deck (totaly unsinkable) More to come Chip

Palco Plastics in Whitman Ma. is where I get the Cintra. 44.00 bucks for a 4'x8' sheet. Dumas uses it on all there wood model boats as sub planking now because It's lite, water proof, easy to cut and sand,Buoyant (floats), and paint and CA glue sticks to it like a rock It's great stuff, and the sheet will do 10 boats.lol
