Delta Force Vortex 34 build

I wanted to build a boat with tail feathers and a turbine cowl. I found a fiberglass flower box it was about 3 feet long by 6 inches deep and 8 inches wide approx. 1 mm thick.
So I started cutting, it had some nice pieces and little ridges in the bottom. I made battery trays and esc mounts out of that part. I was able to cut the tail feathers out of the sides.
The wings and the risers are two pieces fiber glassed together so they are hollow. I wish I would have taken a picture of the box before I cut it up.

Wow! Tough crowd. I took the boat out for its maiden voyage , it ran good. I only had one battery so I could not open her up, the left sponson stayed in the air.
It's got plenty of motor for sure. Anyway just thought I'd share.

I like how you have really changed the look of the boat, very unique. Some sponsor decals will make it look the real thing!

Also your idea for the battery trays is ingenious.

I had to asymmetrically weight the left side to keep it down... Boat gets a lot of air and likes to lift the prop torqued side, which is the left side.

I found with my remotored Libero that powering out of corners the left sponson would lift up to almost 45 degrees and then level out on the straightaways.

A Libero, being a shovel nose, doesn’t really compare real well to a Vortex. But I would think that having the left side out of the water could be asking for it to flip easily with any wind it might see. It’s up to the OP to decide what ride characteristics are desirable. Personally, I like a flat, neutral ride characteristic, all around the course. I love the look of your boat, I know that was a lot of work!

Thanks, when you are doing something you love to do it's not that bad. I'm having the vinyl cut out of black. it will be Blackhawk canine and gun range out of SanAntonio Tx.

This boat is 100 percent from the batteries to the hardware OSE. Minus the paint and a few bolts.

I have two of them, one a normal single motor and I just finished building a twin motor. Same story, got everything from OSE, I like the way Steve does business. It’s good to see a fellow Vortex builder, they are a bit airy for racing, there are hulls that are faster. I sport boat, so that’s not an issue with me. I’ve seen 72mph in my Single last summer, so they go fast enough for me! I’m more comfortable running just over 60, and have set up for long run times. The single is on 8s and the twin is on 6s. It’s a great hobby and I too, love my boats!
