The Leopard 4082 seems to be what is suggested most for the DF Pirate. On 6s (2x3s) I could use KV rating and esc suggestions would be appreciated. I was going to go with a Seaking 180 but I don't know now. I'm looking for mid 40 mph speed but run times and reliability are important too. I also need a motor mount so I can get started. Is this what I want? https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pr...prod=ose-80600

There are many ways to get there, but for the moderate speeds the OP wants I’d recommend that motor with a Kv between 1000 and 1250. These will allow you to run larger more efficient props in the 50-52 mm range while keeping the amp draw low and run time longer. You don’t need 35,000 rpm to run mid-40s. The SK180 will be enough ESC for this setup, and that motor mount will work with the right cooling jacket length.
Just for reference, I currently run a 1100 Kv motor in my 34” SprintCat on 6S through a Raider150 ESC. With an Octura x455 speed is in the upper 40s and average amp draw is around 90 amps. With an x457/3 speeds are low/mid-50s with an amp draw closer to 115. It’s a great sport setup with lots of flexibility.

Motor is on the way I would appreciate recommendations for a flex shaft, coupler, stuffing tube and anything else that I might have forgotten/not known about to get it installed. So far I have these so far. https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pr...prod=ose-80600, https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pr...os-stinger-str for a 3/16 shaft and a Leopard 4082 motor which should be here first of the week. Since this is my first boat build simple is better as long as it does the job acceptably.Comment

Also wondering if Marine Tex epoxy will work for installing the motor mount and other stuff that needs to be glued down. I use this to bed rifle stocks so I usually have some on hand.Last edited by Rumpelhardt; 02-10-2018, 01:24 PM.Comment
