    castle 6.5 connectors

I have a question as I switched everything over to these. Are they reusable, is there anyway to remove the bullets form the housing once you press them in. Just wondering if you need to replace an ESC if you could use the connectors again.

I think I understand your question. Bullet connectors are designed to function as plugs, to be plugged and unplugged as many times as needed. They can be soldered onto and removed from the power and motor wires. Does this answer your question?

Kind of, how do you get the bullets back out of the connector after you press them in. The bullets get soldered onto the wire then you press them into the green housing. Can they be removed from the housing without ruining them? You slip the housings on the wire first then solder the bullets, how do you press them out from the backside of the housing?

You can heat the connectors with a heatgun and pull them out, might work. Don't hold the gun directly over the connector, just brush with it to heat it up gently. It should snap out when the plastic softens a bit.

I was wondering if you cut the wires close to the connector if you could use a punch to tap them out? I wasn't sure if the housings can be reused or not though, thought maybe somebody had tried it before. Those housings are pretty tough

i've never done it with a castle connector but with the ec3 and ec5 connectors if you take an allen key or something and set it on the bullet then smack it with a hammer it should pop out of the casing, I set the casing on a vice and opened it just enough to allow the bullet to slide out of the connector when hit, There is just a little lip on the bullet that catches on a flange in the plastic casing. you could also just tug on the wire and see if you can get it to pop out, I did that once with a traxxas connector and the gold plated strip popped out of the casing.

I'm sure it could be done, but the aren't really designed to go backwards so I wouldn't suggest doing it repeatedly.

My buddy has tapped the bullets out of the plastic housing on the castle connectors, just use an appropriate sized punch and don't beat the crap out of it just some light tapping should do it

I find those green housings to be a pain. I have one set from a prewired esc and I cannot connect them with my hands. If I use a tool like pliers I might mash the housings. I prefer heat shrink anyway.

I'v use a punch (you can also use a 1/4x20 screw) while supporting the green housing over my vise, good news is,, it work,,, bad news is it takes the green plastic with the barbs on the connector and the green plastic housing is not reusable or would I take the chance

You can adjust the ESC end with needle nose pliers. The inner male splines can be compressed and will plug and unplug much easier.

I really think the housing is what makes it so tight,, spray some silicone on them it helps ,, I would not want to compromise the fit of the connectors themselves if anything tighter is better

Not if you need a pair of pliers to connect them.............. you should be able to use you hands to plug in and separate them. Have you ever tried adjusting the splines if you think you made them too loose you just separate them again with a small Phillip's screwdriver

Actually the silicone dielectric grease worked well. After plugging them in and out a few times it's far better than how it started. No need to adjust the plugs with pliers.

Funny because the empty cases without the bullets won't stay together they just slip in and out by tilting them.
