Rookie question about sponsons/ride pads

When I lay my boat on a piece of glass I notice the sponsons don't sit flush. It is a Classic Hydros shovel. Is this the way it should be? The angles isn't much but it is still there. I can make it flush when I put the ride pads on but didn't want to "fix" something I'm not sure is broke.

The sponsons are fine,only the rear inside corners of the sponsons should touch the glass, the outside points should have about a 3mm gap between it and the glass..
