You will find that motor couplers are hard to come by in 3 mm bore. There are many similar (and sometimes even cheaper) motors that have either a 2.3 mm, 3.2 mm (1/8"), or 4 mm shaft. Couplers for this size motor are easier to come by.

That motor should work well in a Hydromite. I've been using 3000 rpm/V outrunners on 2S in little hulls like the Hydromite and they work well with a 29 mm prop. I am about to try a 3850 rpm/V motor in my lastet micro hull.

    Try this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/RC-Model-3850-RP...713.m153.l1262

I watched his auctions and picked up this exact motor PLUS a 30A ESC for about $25 shipped. If you are not in an immediate rush for a power system, it pays to wait for an opportunity to be an ebay sniper.

I got my 3000kv out runner and ESC from here:

it was shipped all the way from Hong Kong to the USA in less than two weeks and for less than $25.

I plan on using it in my hydromite when it finally gets built. It's getting there, but very very slowly!

This is a great deal and in fact, the "spec" motor for SSSH racing. It is a drop-in replacement for the 3850 Kv motor I mentioned above; or perhaps it would be better to say the motor above is a drop-in replacement for this motor.

Its easier for me to buy of this site. Wot if i bought a coupler with a 2.3mm hole and drilled it out to 3mm.
          Thanks

There are a couple of guys on this site that make couplers. Look for Jeff Wholt and/or Ned Schmidt (not 100% sure of the spelling). I think either one may be able to help you.

Drilling never works well; the hole is never precise enough. I like to ream them to the final bore.

You'll need a lathe and a 3 mm reamer. That's not something I have scattered about my shop.

What kind of li-po would you recomend for this setup.

With the 3000 rpm/V motor, cells in the 1250~1500 mah range (20C) work well. With higher Kv motors like you mention, 1500~1900 mah (20C or more) would be my choice.

                        ok
                        Should it be a 2cell or a 3cell?

                              Dr. Jet,

Have you tried the 3850kv motor yet? I was wondering if the 30 amp mystery esc would still be okay with the higher kv motor (2s lipo) or if a larger esc would be needed.
