Looks good Tony. The transom material is called core-mat, much better to reinforce sides and deck than transom.

The angle was derived from the position of Steve Martin's hands at the end of the vid:

The fins were mocked up for the picture, removed for shipping. Customer will adjust as needed. But thanks

What kv of TP POWER motor did this run on?

What motors are NAMBA & IMPBA approved these days, I'm confused. I know the PB & AQ are still in there.

Will TP shorten the recent can or will it not matter?

                Answered (1970 KV)

What motors are NAMBA & IMPBA approved these days, I'm confused. I know the PB & AQ are still in there.

Ray, It's been pouring/flooding here in SoCal and I'll answer only because I'm suffering from cabin fever AND because anytime I start talking about "approved motors" I seem to get flamed for stepping on my [word redacted] so I'll answer only under suspicion of being in a purple haze of rainy-day temporary insanity :

I don't know about IMPBA; perhaps Mr. Smock could chime in

The NAMBA rulz for P-Ltd Specifies this :

                motors NAMBA.jpg

This ruleset is MANDATORY for National Records and FE National Point events.

Now here's where it can get "fuzzy" : In general, District racing series or "local" events generally adhere to this ruleset to keep a level playing field for all entrants BUT can make exceptions if they want : e.g. the Dynamite PB 2000KV motor (stock motor for the latest BJ29), while not on the list may be allowed at local Club level (as in SCSTA Legg Lake series) just to create a larger choice for new entrants.

Now This : Some daring, radical revolutionary futurists (probably descendants of those forward thinking rebels who dared to revolt from the Crown back in the 1770's) have proposed (and in some top secret locations and possibly disguised as a band of touring yodel-dancers) began allowing for any P-Ltd any inrunner no bigger around than 36.3 mm and longer than 61.2mm.

I built Steve's boat to race with a Club consisting of these forward thinkers.

Will TP shorten the recent can or will it not matter?

[it might matter to the mindset that required me to sand .0625 " off the sponson tips of my Cheetah to meet the 34" max length requirement during record 2-lap trials.

Thanks Tony. I hope the rain stops but, you guys need the water!! lol... Take care.

You see, I can get a nice PB DYNM3835 A3630-1500Kv 6-pole for $54 + shipping to Canukistan but a TP will cost me a bit more. I just don't want to go to Michigan or Rochester and have someone get bent that I have a long TP power motor however if the quality is better I'd rather invest in that??

Whatever. I'll just run the PB motors and leave it at that. Even if I bought a TP motor the Michigan guys would never send me packing away, they're pretty cool.

Lets wait and hear from the Winter Warm ups to see if motors were any factor in the racing weekend.

                  One more Q:

How did you determine trim tab placement? I have those tabs and I want to use them possibly on my Cyberstorm.

I also have a larger set. Sometimes I like to build a mono that can convert from Limited power to full P power. I did it on my DF33 and it works well.

Still on the fence to build it full P power or do it like this for spec racing.... Can't decide...

                    Ray,

I'm of the school of thought that tabs are most called upon at full boogie in a straight line when the hull is fairly aired out (high in the water) so I like tabs to be close to the keel line BUT with the caveat that the prop does best with unobstructed water coming at it minus the effect of the tabs.

                        Ray,

Somehow in a re-edit this answer got left out :

Will TP shorten the recent can

TP Power is aware of the issue with the longer can not meeting the PPPP (PotentiallyPossiblyProposedP-LT) situation and I've been advised that future shipments of the winds of interest to P-Ltd folks will be back in the shorter cans that meet the PPPP. FWIW the longer can D-Wind and one Y-Wind 3630 of interest to boaters have the SAME length stator and rotor as the shorter can versions.

How thick of a transom doubler did you use? I'm about to slap one together for P-limited.
