HELP!!! NEED HELP WITH MY 1st Fe BOAT

My questions are simple. I'm building a JAE 21 an would like to know if a Neu 1415 2200Kv motor and a Seaking 180A ESC is a good choice. my first pick was a Leopard 3674 2200Kv motor and Seaking 120A ESC. I have been running gas boats for many years now and these electric boats are looking pretty cool. I NEED SPEED. Thanks Al

Speed equals less run time, and what type speeds are you looking for? Neu motor will have better efficiency, But the boat still has to be setup pretty well and prop selection will play a big part too.

Ok, lets say 70+. I don't know how these motors and esc's will work for me. The Neu motor to me seems like the better choice, and for esc's it was suggested that a Seaking 180a would work for my intentions. Hey, I'm a Gas guy. It's not like i'm going to say ok I'll buy a Stryker cat and put a Quickdraw 30.5 set the motor at 12.5in from transom to center of the plug to get my CG. And on an on. I don't have the answers you asked. For me right now it is trial an error. That's why I'm asking for anybodys help. It's just like when I started with gas boats, I was lucky for this old guy's help. And now thirty years later we are best of friends and I am Greatful for all he has taught me. I'm sorry if I come off sounding a little gruff. I'm just starting all over again. Thanks

My JAE 21 runs mid/high 70s on the oval while cutting 12-second laps. A better driver could be in the 11s.

        Castle 1415/1Y
        4S1P/5000/40C
        Castle ICE200 Lite
        ABC H-7 cupped

The Neu would work as well. The Seaking is probably too big to fit in the JAE tub. If you wanted a less costly motor I would choose the TP motors over the Leopard any day. You will want an ESC with a minimum of 150 amps capacity.

The seaking will fit 180 should work fine without cooling mods.v3 that is the v2 will also but not without mods done to it.

Thanks Fluid for the info on motor an esc. I'm looking forward to this build ,and Batteries NO Gas? OSE don't have that motor in stock an esc, well i'll have to get the motor first. Please let me know of any other ideas you may have. How long of run time do you get with your batteries and what brand do you use? Thanks

You can directly call neu to get a motor, or tppowerusa.com to get a motor from them your choice.

As my JAE is set up (for oval racing) it runs for about two minutes - that's about ten laps. A smaller prop will extend run time at the expense of some speed.

The Castle 1415/2400 motor is available for under $100 on eBay, but they have 1/8" shafts. Finding a coupler to 3/16" cable, and a water jacket, may be tougher. You can call Steven at OSE, he may be able to help.
