    Repaint Miss Geico V2

So I was tired of the bright green and stickers and it had some previous owner damage on the front fork, so I decided to repaint it. I've read a couple guides on how to get good results from spraycan/aerosol, but I've seen some awesome custom builds in here with great results so I just wanted to make sure I got the process down right.

    - I sanded off the clear/varnish.
    - Did 3 coats of primer and sanded smooth.
    - Laid on one coat of base and wet sanded that (kinda looked like crap and took a lot of paint off. Should I still do this or wait to sand when I clear coat?)
    - I've laid on 3 more coats of base, not sure if I should wetsand it smooth to get rid of orange peel?
    - I have some vinyl graphics on the way so I'm waiting on those before I clear coat
-I'll lay on 2 coats of "dry" clear, then 3 coats of wet/thick clear, then wet sand with 1000, then 1500, then 2000, then 3000?
    - Then use a mild compound to buff out remaining scratches

    I got that down right?

I think you are on the right track. I have been sanding between all coats to get rid of any imperfections, I use 600. I would maybe start with 1500 when the clear is cured. Are you using Lacquer or Enamel? Reason I ask is because I have been using Enamel and I have to wait 4-6 days between heavy coats so I make sure the coat is cured, not just dried.

I believe it's enamel. Rustoleum 2x Painters touch. The clear coat will be Rustoleum Clear Enamel. I'll probably lay the final base coat tonight and let it set while I wait for the graphics to come in, then wet sand before I apply then clear. :) Thanks for the feedback!

That's what I have been using, for all my coats I spray the light "tack coat" and let that stand 15 minutes then come back with the wet heavier coat. Been ok with 4-5 days in dry basement (50% humidity) for curing. If it's a really nice sunny day I'll lay the hull outside for a few hours too. I'll be adding another clear coat this weekend, can still feel the decal edges on mine.

Looks awesome! I'll update with pictures as soon as I get my decals on there. :)

I don't understand why you put the graphics under the clear. If you have a wreck and need to repair the paint it is much more difficult.

Stickers gonna un-stick at 60mph. Also if I'm wrecking at that speed, time for a new hull anyways. Haha

I don't like how some previous decals on the BlackJack 26 would lift after taping them down. I think it just helps keep them looking nicer as well.

                Nice tips sheet I found:

Woah. I've put on 1 or 2 coats too soon then. Hopefully it'll turn out okay. If it looks horrid I'll just start over. :)

Never seen one lift shoot most of the graphics on unlimited hydros don't lift at 200 mph and it is the same material

If your decals are lifting, you didn't properly clean the surface before application. Either that or the quality of your decals is bad. Not only that, but the water shouldn't be in contact with the decals in any situation other than off plane and submerged/wrecked.

your 1st coat is a "tack" coat, and it should not be 100% coverage, maybe 80%. don't sand that, allow it to partially dry then you can begin spraying a 100% coverage coat and the tack coat should prevent the full coat from developing runs

My decals don't lift, I should clarify, decals lifted with tape on my dad's Blackjack 29.
