    Finally gettin' a round tuit

Finally, after a long wait, I'm gettin' around to building my JAE 21 FE.
1.When gluing the tub to the bottom, after it has been paced into the jig, does everybody use hobby epoxies, Tightbond 3 or West Systems epoxy? My choice is to use the West Systems as it is thinner and soaks into the wood and into the seams better.
I did find the instruction manual to be a bit ambiguous in places. Talked with some one at Zipp and was told they're revising the manual. I guess I'm used to the manuals provided by airplane kits makers such as Sig, Balsa USA, etc.
Anything I need to watch out for besides making sure everything is square?

Hi John I use epoxy glue 30min in all of my wood/fiber builds....CA very often in case I need a precise placement of the part before epoxy it.Square is MANDATORY for this kind of building and boat...take your time and use a good jig. west Systems is what I use.Gill

I did use a jig for the tub made with 2" aluminum angle and a flat plywood board. ( I checked the board for flatness) . So far I have the tub started with the rear bottom piece glued in and have started working on the outriggers. I managed to get the front mounts squared and set up to equal height, within 1/32" and have only a few more pieces to finish the sponsons.
The manual is a bit confusing for a first time builder of one of these kits but There are enough photos here I can refer to.

One thing I noticed with the hardware kit I bought from Zipp is there is no Teflon tubing for the stuffing tube. IS there something that I'm missing here is regards to Teflon tubing being used?
Also the exact mounting location of the rudder bracket is rather ambiguous. I guess I'll give them a call and find out.
Other wise I have the sponsons nearly done, just have to sand and shape the tips now.

What stringers are you talking about? The motor attaches to the sides of the tub. Also, no teflon needed for stuffing tube.

Yes, I know the motor mount is attached to the sides of the tub.I talked with the guys at Zipp and they told me that teflon tubing was not needed.
Also They sent me 4 basswood 1/8 x 36" strips to be glued at the bottom where it meets the side of the tub as well as the top to support the tub top pieces.
This is now used instead of balsa tri-stock. If you check out page 15 and page 22 it instructs to glue the tri-stock to the bottom and the top of the tub sides.
There is even a cutting guide on page 35 of the construction manual.
I was also informed by one of the people at Zipp kits, there will be a new revised edition of the construction manual.
                  Cheers

                    Nuts.
I just got my Town and Country from the shop and it cost more than I planned just to replace the two front struts and wouldn't you know some linkages had to be replaced and I gotta spend another $80.00 for alignment.
So now I have to make a decision about motors. I may have to spend down and buy one that's less expensive and the one I consider is the leo 3660 which OSE is out of.
Maybe I can still get the TP motor but It may be the 3630 instead. Gotta check over my finances.
One other thing, why isn't there a bending pattern for the stuffing tube with the construction manual? would be a big help.
