    Hobby King Apparition Help

    Hey guys,

I am hoping I could get some advice on a HK Apparition that I ordered. Here is the link to the exact boat: http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...ll_800mm_.html

I regret not buying just the hull after reading through forums about how to properly set this boat up. I am not a complete newbie...I have a Proboat BJ 24, but it was a full RTR and I did an easy ESC and motor swap. I was hoping I could get some advice on: -Can I convert the inline rudder to an offset one?
-Can I convert the drive to 3/16?
I haven't ordered a motor yet and ESC yet, but I have a good idea what I want. The Proboat BJ24 was fun, but I'm craving some 6s speed!

Well. I have good news and bad new for you. Good news is you can make this thing haul pretty easily. Yes youvan offset the rudder. I'm not sure on the flex unless you have big enough brass tubing.

Now for the bad news. This hull is thin and a little weak for high speeds that 6s can give you. I'd suggest starting slower and learning the boat and tuning it. That's always a good start. Even though you aren't new to boats entirely, the apparition has a lot more straight line speed potential than a bj24 and it can destroy itself if your not careful. What motor and Esc did you have in mind?

Hey kfxguy, thanks for the quick reply. I can't wait to start on this boat. I was thinking a Seaking 180 and Leopard 4074. And I will definitely be taking your advice and take it easy and educate myself before I run it hard on whatever setup I end up with. I am not on a super tight budget, but trying to keep it reasonable. Thoughts?

That is a solid combo for that boat. I'd choose something in the 1600kv area. Octura m445 is a good prop for that.

Thanks man, but after further research it looks like that motor won't fit in the stock mount. Should have the boat in a couple days. Waiting to get the boat before I order anything. Do you know where I can find the offset rudder for this model. Seen lots of them labeled for the Genesis. Thanks.
