    Trim tabs

I have been unable to find any info on benifits of having twin tabs on each side of a V hull but think it looks neat. Would someone fill me on on the advantage of two tabs per side and how to set them up please. Also where could I get some to fit a 30" V hull. I have a pic of what im looking for that I will try to post. Thankyou

inside tabs are for straight line
    outside tabs are for turns
this setup makes your boat more tunable
two sets of sv size tabs would be fine you can get them right here on OSE
The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

Ok, I get what your saying but should the outside tabs be down further then? That is my thinking since in straight away they really wont be in the water. I ask because of the pictures I have found most are in-line with eachother. If they (should) be in-line then is it just as practical to go with one of OSE's longer single tabs? Thanks again

the four tabs should be adjusted according to your boats setup
the outside tabs should not be in the water on the straights
again the more adjustments you have the more you can fine tune your boat for racing and such.
if you are just sport running the you most likely don't need to go this route.

thanks for the help there. Couple more questions if anyone doesnt mind.

          1. How do most of you measure angle of tabs or just by how many turns you turn the adjusting screw?

          2. If just using single tab on each side and running oval, should one be lower than the other at all or same?

          Thanks for the advise.

trim angle is all in testing
start with your tabs level with the bottom of the hull
and adjust them down until you have the desired ride
tabs down will put the bow down for a wetter ride which is usually more stable, but also slower.
rougher water will usually require more tab down
while smooth water you can put the tabs up and make some high speed runs
some boats need more tab than others, by design.
the sv27 needs tabs, but the df33 can go without

your tabs might be lower on one side to help with torque roll

Avanti I am yet to see a DF 33 going 55mph that can do with out tabs, If you have how about some video and set up please. I run 4 tabs the inside are currently set at 2.5mm up, straight edge along last 6" of hull and a 2.5mm drill bit under edge of tab. Inside outer tab at 4mm set the same way, outer outside tab 4.5mm. My Df turns as hard as I want ,go's where it is pointed, runs real hard in race water and is a consistant 55mph boat. I tried to achieve this without tabs but could not.

Andym, if I understand correctly (tell me if I'm wrong) both in and out tabs are pointing up so the flow of water tend to lift the bow? how about strut angle?
My 29" turns very hard too without any tabs but that is certainly due to the extended rudder mount I have (rudder shaft is 135mm from transom!), my strut is pointing up 1°, witch IMO tend to lift the bow as well but probably "waiste" some thrust. I'm working on speed improvement and I'm trying to grab as much info as possible on existing setup!

My strut is level. All I try to do with my tabs is get it to create just enough drag to get the attitude of the hull where I want it for the conditions. I find that if the inside tabs are level it runs to wet, If higher than approx 3mm to loose. I use the inside tabs for straight line attitude and the outer for cornering and they have helped with bad chine walk in bad conditions. I am no expert but learning as I age like us all.

andym, my 33" is not quite to the 55mph mark yet, I run 48.9 and my tabs are up, I still have a lot of tuning to do, as the boat runs wet.

I hope Im quoting right. Anyway, the photo linked is just a stock photo. Its actaully I believe from an "E-bay" boat. If I were to get them from Offshore Electrics I would buy two sets of the single tabs. I ended up going with single wide tabs. Mine arent as shiny

The rudder looks a little deep, but maybe it's the picture.

They could stand to use a smaller rudder and mount the bracket lower on the hull...

...If the trim tabs weren't so tall.
