    just finished my daytona

As some of you saw, I had a mishap last week that finished off my fiberglass daytona. I replaced it with a carbon fiber hull and just finished it. This was my first time doing a cf inlay, so it isn't perfect but it works. I used aluminum binding posts glued to the bottom of the hull and covered with the cf for my esc tray mount and 1/8" ply with blind nuts under the cf as well to screw the servo mount to. Overall it came out pretty nice and I'm happy with it. I decided to give automotive panel bond a try for this build since it is already black, super strong and I had some here. I used it for the esc posts, the water pickup, motor mount and battery trays. We'll see how it holds up. I'm thinking it will be fine, the stuff holds quater panels on cars, this should be nothing for it.

My last boat, I made a lot of custom parts on the lathe (thumb screws, antenna mount, water outlet, through hull water fitting, etc) and laser cut rails, motor mount and servo mount out of 1/8" ply. This one, I used off the shelf parts for most of it with the exception of lasering the servo mount holder and making the antenna mount and spacers for the hatch lock sockets on the lathe. The spacers were fun- .110" wide parts aren't easy to chuck and cut but I like the challenge.

Some more pics. I typically don't use the motor mount cooling but figured it was there, I'd plumb it in for now. If it gives me trouble, I'll just bypass it then.

Just recently? Or a while ago back when he had it in stock?

Let us know about that panel bond. A buddy of mine gave me a twin tube of the 3m stuff, but I never tried it out. He said it's some real strong stuff.

            Boat looks good, nice work.

Thanks man! I'll let you know if I have any failures with the panel bond. I have used it in place of weld many times on sheetmetal and to bond fiberglass panels and such with no issues. I'm sure it will hold up just fine, but only time will tell. I used it because I had it and it's black lol.
