Whelp here I go all. I wanted to start a post with my new boat build. I’ll list out all the parts I’ve bought so far and general crap that I didn’t already have. This is my first build and a lot of you have been helping me with general advice and tips to help the build process go along well. I’m about as happy as a puppy with two peckers and having such a good group of people to help out just makes this a wonderful experience all together!

Next I lightly oil the 'O' rings on the Water Jacket and slip it on the NEU Motor.

Second I opened the receiver and coat the guts with 3m Dp270 Clear Epoxy. I didn't cover the 'button' on the receiver, but all else is water tight now.

I also sealed the servo and added a little more marine grease to it as well. I went ahead and mounted it to the hull and started placing the gear inside to verify placement was good.

        * Side note: I really wish you could just order this stuff already sealed and ready to go (Waterproof) vs. having to do it on my own, but I guess it's good to look it over now.

Next I played with the ESC. Hooking up the water cooling and placing it in the hull (talk about some serious water cooling). I still need to do some soldering work with the ESC in general and once I get the entire boat ready and the CG correct I'll shorten the wires and do a general clean up.

One question if I could: The wires on the left (while facing the esc) are battery wires, the ones on the right are for the motor, so I assume that I’ll have to solder both sets together and attach it to the motor?

I also have to tweak with the motor mount since it’s not 100% ready for a NEU motor. I’ll need to do some minor drilling, grease the drive shaft all up and then start with the hooking up of all the equipment.

Please check over it all and please catch any possible issues I may be making or things I might want to think about. I’ll be tweaking with it either tonight or tomorrow after work.

          Thanks again all!

Oh yeah! Once I get done with her, she's all good to go and happy with the whole setup I'll need to find someone to do some Air Brush work to her. Ya it'll sucks taking parts off again, but can't have her just white and without color!

Loki, on the cooling of the ESC I'd cut back the wrapping of the Hydra that is overlapping the tubes so you can push the silicone hoses further in a bit. Under pressure they may pop off the ESC and then disaster may strike if they are just barely in (like you have them).
Cut the wrapping as far as you can w/o exposing the solders/boards and push the hoses in as far as you can ...
            My "2 cent".

Ub Hauled – Thanks MATE! Yup I’ll do that tonight when I get home. I was honestly wondering why the plastic came out so far but wasn’t sure if it was ok to do a little cutting.

I wish I could dump this thing in the rubber coating or the Epoxy to water proof it, but I have a feeling it has to breathe to stay cool.

Here in the US we have something called "Silicone Conformal Coating" (by MG Chemicals / spray version), that's what CC uses to waterproof their Hydras... if you are not sure about your water proofness just apply some more of that... I have to warn you, it has a very strong odor.

                  Looks Good!

Looks great Jim! Thats a 10-4 on you motor leads....

Also IMO it wouldnt hurt to rig up u rear motor mount/support.
That 1521 is a long motor. I would want the tail weight of the motor supported so it has no way of flexing.

                  My $.02.

good job on your first build!

I use the same controller in my 1/8th hydro on 10S and it is rarely even warm to the touch, I got rid of the clear plastic coating and covered it in 30 Min epoxy (done in stages over 2 days) and it works great with no problems with moisture at all. The biggest headache is figuring out how to use Castles software,,but thats a different story.

Dobi, good to hear someone had the balls to drop one in epoxy...
I personally will never do that, I'd rather let it breath a bit more and if need be, I'd go as far as wrapping it in Kapton tape. Epoxy is too permanent for my taste.
