    HPR C-5009 build

i picked up an HPR C-5009 hull and hardware earlier this year, and have finally gotten around to the build process.

the plan is a nice running boat on 6s and mover on 8s.
im using twin scorpion 3026 1400kv high rpm outrunners. i do have a few other motors to play with as well including old style tp and sss 4050 2200kv, leopard 1760kv outrunner, and a chinese 1600kv outrunner. but the scorpions will be what i go with first and most likely stay with.

    i am using Fightercat 240a 2-8s esc's for controllers.

I got the drive bases mounted as low and as far to the tunnel as i can and still get the internal nut on. these are super easy to mount.

the drives would not sit neutral so i had to do a little filing of the upper support.

i also filled the rudder stand off with chopped cf and short strands of cf level with the rear deck.

i was just checking out how the motor mounts fit. and man the outrunner looks little in there.

checking how things will balance and placement

stuffing tubes made, bent to match and test fit. and testing the motor mount placement

got the motor mounts and servo mount in where i want them, flexs cut to length.

now im wondering about props.....this is a cnc445 and it comes awfully close to the rear overhang with the drives neutral.

got the battery trays mounted using aquarium silicone.

now working on the water cooling pickups for the esc's

Great looking hull. I'm working on one myself too. Are those the old pickups? I would definitely redo them if that's not the case. And those cnc props are really not all that great, is there a reason you are going with those? I've had some bad experience with them when one of the blades just shattered into pieces. Can't beat the regular octura props in terms of strength.

Looks like you should have a good setup there. Twin outrunners sound cool. What the heck is with the lack of clearance for a prop? Will a longer drive set be in order perhaps?

They are the HPR drives. Supposed to be for this boat. So I'm not sure. The props are what I have now to test. I will not be spinning these fast enough to cause a failure I don't think. Been using them for sport running with 0 issues. But yes new props will be on order. The pickups are not done by any means, just drilled the hole and was getting the tubes through.

well i was unhappy with motor temps on the scorpions after 3 runs, so i swapped them out with a few different motors. i found a pair of motors i wanted to try for a different build but tossed them in the hpr for sh!ts and giggles and it turned out they worked quite well. here it is on those motors. they are 4068 2150kv motors running on 5s and 445 props.

it n ow has a pair of TP4070 2200kv motors, and ill be pushing these pretty hard soon.
