2S scratch cat 24" Jesse J mods to shocker plans
So in order to race our new N2 offshore class, I decided to modify shocker's design. This is also in the Video thread.
I added 2" to the width, slanted the sides and flattened the deck.
here is the beginning. I will work on updating and adding all my build photos as I worked through it.
I'll upload jpg of the plans in this post later; need to convert from pdf. First is the final outcome.
I will document the hardware/electronics later. for now here are early pics of the birth of the scratch cat 24"

paper glue the plans to the 1/8" balsa and head to the band saw

Piece it together and make sure all bulk heads are aligned as best you can then CA on a building board for flattest and truest hull.
Incidentally, this is the prototype out of ply... way too heavy and I wanted a 5" tunnel instead of 4".
Back to the drawing board to add an inch of width and 1/4" depth to tunnel and flatten the deck.
Compound curves can wreak havoc with these fragile frames.

This shows the angled sides - I was aiming at better stability in the turns.
I have noticed on my slo mos that frequently the flip starts with a vertical side pulling water up and causing more drag which enhances the roll into a roll over.

Next post will be order in which I skinned the frame and added 2part foam to the bow and under the ride pads.
First round of skinning. started with the floor on the building board.
then got the front sponson bottoms skinned.
