WTB-- Want to build either a Deep Vee with OB or Jet drive would like suggestions

I have a 26" bling rocket hull and I've seen others try outboards and maybe jet drives.

I'd like to do one or the other but, have no idea what I'm doing.

The only notion I have for mounting an OB is that the prop should be at the approx. level of an inboard setup I'm used to, that is using surface piercing props. Jet drive is a whole other ball game but, looks really cool and can go almost anywhere.

What OB would I use for a 26" hull? TFL? Looks like one other person has used one.

It doesn't have to be super fast but, not dog slow 20 mph.

Is CG different on an OB setup, should be the same as IB right?

    Thanks in advance!

Someone built this mono and it runs nice. All I would like to know are the basics of where exactly to mount the TFL OB unit and some inside shots of this 26" green Bling Rocket mono.

I've tried to contact him with no success yet.

I'd like to see a nice jet drive. Something other than the NQD jet boat. MHZ makes some really nice jet drives. Also the Mickie Beez in a 26 Bling rocket would be a nice setup

Thanks. Some on RCGroups think the 26" mono I have may not fit the Mickie Beez, we'll see.

My mono will be either a jet drive or ob... still thinking while building other stuff. Jet drive is so cool tough...

I think a set of twin ouutboards would look awesome on the bling. I say twins because triples might not fit:-)

i have recently started to rebuild an old impulse 31 hull
going to put in a 28 mm kehrer jet ( ordered but hasn't arrived ,expect it this week)
            3656 1800Kv aquacraft motor , 3s lipo

so far stripped the entire hull , the overhang has to go
going to adjust the bottom off the hull : no deep-V but flat riding area to obtain the typical handling of a jet powered boat

Well I'd love to see your build. Can you hook me up with some links to different jet drives available? I'd like to see the different options out there.

i used a kehrer jet ,they used to have them in 28 ,33 or 40 mm but i only found them in the 28 mm size
i know mhz has jets but they are for bigger boats/motors
graupner used to make/sell them but i read that the keher ones are better

problem with the kehrer is that the mounting holes are not 25 mm apart ,they sell an adaptor piece but then the motor will not reach the coupler!!!

maybe some outrunner have longer axles and will reach the coupler but since this is a budget build i want to use stuff that i have laying around

i will start a building log , but you must be warned i'm a slow builder :-)

Jet drive is gonna be slow, maybe even slower then dog slow considering a greyhound can top out at over 40mph. I love my jet drive boat and plan to do another with a better unit. Not sure a df26 is a good jet drive candidate

Thanks for the input. Might go with OB, simpler I think but, no Idea what height to mount it. It's for a fun running boat, not speed.
