    PTI 335 FE Tunnel

Just some pics of the build I'm working on! Just finishing up the second sealer coat and getting ready to start the cowl and servo mounting! Been a fun build so far and ready to do a big bot already lol!!

    Hope you enjoy!

Sam, thats looking good brother. Only thing I see is, are those sponson tips as blunt as they look in the pics ?

Ordering the PX330. Looks like a nice build you have going there, keep posting photos! I am converting my second VS1 to FE and the tricky part is that rear bulkhead. Going with a rear servo mount this time and its difficult to rout all the linkage, cooling hoses, and wires to get something that stays dry from the rear compartment forward. Thinking about some kind of grommet set-up for the wires and leaving the servo box exposed with a WP servo.

122914 001.jpgBuild pics 010.jpgHey DJ! They are blunt indeed. I'm not a pro builder or anything and wasn't sure bout hull integrity if I sanded that to a point. My next one I will be sanding that to a wicked point for sure. Hope it doesn't cause any ill handling issues at 50+ mph!

covedweller, I'm thinking rear servo as well! Long as I can get the CG needed. Seams like the shortest/straightest linkage is the most stout/reliable, but many never have issues with front mounting either. Gonna use regular linkage Bellows to run my wires and lines thru. If I'm not happy with that, will probly run them thru brass tubing shrink tubed at both ends. trial and error I guess lol!!

Still need to get the servo mounted up and linkage setup. Also in the pic, my outboard is not setup either, just getting holes punches in. Once shes got all holes and mounts and trays etc installed, I'll blow it apart, finish sand and re coat and clear it. I want to be sure all exposed wood and holes are coated!!

I do have a question bout the water pickup on this O.S. tho. I bought the "O.S." pickup for the lower when I ordered it from OSE and the I.D. is STUPID small! Wondering If anyone can steer me in the rite direction and maybe share a pick of their pickup setup.
            Thanks!!

Sam, yes there kinda small looking but have plenty of flow. At 50mph the blunt nose wont affect anything, its at startup, it might want to submarine a bit more than normal. No need to make it sharp bud, just angle it a bit. Leave the top same and just sand it at a slight angle, will make a big diff. Really like this hull... DJ

I had the same problem with my first O.S. lower. I looked around and found one that was bigger either at OSE or Kintec, cant remember. Had to drill out the planer fin and re tap to a larger size for the new fitting, but it worked like a champ! I'm going shopping online right now and if I see it I'll post it here. on my sponson tips, I rounded them. Looks good and might be a little stronger. I faired them in with marine fairing bondo type stuff.

Yep, its on Kintec. Down on the bottom of the water cooling section. its called a thru hull/outboard pickup. The one with threads and a lock nut.

Ya, the one I got is maybe a millimeter I.D., maybe! Only thing I can figure is the short route the water has to get to the head of the nitro motor would possibly not allow it to come to operating temp. Either way, its not gonna work for me I don't think. I've got a couple thru hull fittings, I may modify one of them and see whats what.
Got paint for the cowl yesterday! Gonna be a lime pearl with a pearl clear!

Regarding the O.S. pickup: A 5/64" drill bit can be used to open up the hole to the same ID. This has been done successfully by myself and others.
